the Roll-down method to be effective you must be consistent in your payments. Should you choose an amount that is too high, you may become discouraged if you are unable to meet your payment goal.

Yes, I just keep getting redirected back to the sign-up page whenever I apply!

Are Halifax considered a good bet for giving existing customer offers? I Have an Egg Card, HSBC, Halifax, RBS and Barrclaycard..all with 2-3k on them and reasonably close to the limit.

I'm in a position to pay off the Barclaycard now, but really want another 0% BT offer. Am I better off paying off the Halifax card over the next couple of months and then trying to get an offer on that?

Nope, wouldn't hold my breath on a repeat Halifax deal. Normally easier to cancel and reapply as new customer for an offer. Obviously you'd need to clear the 2-3k balance on the card first.

Have you thought about an MBNA backed card like Virgin?

I've applied for the Virgin card a few times over a couple of years and they always turn me down, so given up wasting my credit file on them :) Maybe I'll just pay off the Barclaycard then and try and get a new card later in the year when I've paid off more. I was just hoping I could get an existing deal from Barcklaycard, Halifax or RBS really.

Barclaycard are known to offer existing customer LOB deals at 6.9% - RBS branded cards I've generally had repeats with after waiting a few months.

You can apply for a new card every 3 months without it making a major dent in your credit file.

Have you ever appealed the Virgin rejection?

No, never appealed the Virgin card. I last applied just before xmas so may try again in a few months. Tesco also rejected me but I think they are connected to either RBS or Halifax.
  • Just logged onto my MBNA account and there's a BT offer of 0% until 21st Dec. 5% fee, though :(

Ring them on 0800 783 116 to see if there's anything they can do with the fee.
