  • Tesco are doing 7.9 lob with no fee and 1.9 for 6 months with 2.5 fee, or 6.9 lob and 0% for six months with 2.5 fee at the moment depending on your acc.

They always offer a LOB offer and a 6 month offer at the same time.

I have had a Halifax Visa Electron debit card account for about 6 months.

Halifax has just offered (by post) a Halifax Credit card offering :-

    • 0% interest on balance transfers (within first 90 days) for 12 months (3% fee).
    • 0% interest on purchases for first 12 months.
    • Typical variable rate after 12 months = 15.9%

Halifax have a deal for customer loyalty!!! thats unheard of. thank god i did not close the card.

    0% 6 months with BT fee 3%
    or
6.95% LOB with BT Fee 3%

guess they now realise it pays to keeployal customers. though the LOB deal is tempting over 3 year period as most personal loans are at 8%+ and this will not require a credit check either.

Back along when I had my Halifax One card I was given a £1,700 limit with 19.9% APR.

After one year they increased the limit to £2,450, reduced the APR to 15.9%, and offered balance transfer for six months interest free with 3% fee. I transferred my MBNA Classic Mastercard balance and closed the MBNA card.

Six months later (18 months after account opening) they reduced APR again to 12.9% and offered another balance transfer deal this time 2.9% APR for nine months with 3% fee. I transferred my Barclaycard Initial balance and when I went to close my Barclaycard account they reduced the APR to 9.9%! Pretty good for a then-teenager, eh? Oh no, I was 20. Still good!

Halifax seem to offer very good deals to customers who run their account well. It's a pity my Halifax One got written into a bankruptcy order... it was a pretty card... jet black with silver motif'...

    *anyway*...

Natwest (RBS) have just given me 12months 0% balance transfer with 2.99% fee when I asked to close the account. Required a zero balance on the card.
  • Hi, I have just been offered 0% BT with Virgin with 2.98 handling fee, offered over the phone from a cold call.

I have £9K balance and an £18k credit limit. She said she could transfer £9k to my bank (making my card balance 18K), then I pay the same card off with the £9k to reduce my interest till June 2010. Does this work, surely the interest rate would stay the same?

She was trying to tell me something about a loophole, but very cagey as she wasnt allowed to, what am I missing please?

What interest rate(s) are you currently charged on your £9000 balance?

Repayments would be allocated to transactions charged at the lowest rates first. If you have balances attracting the same special rate, payments are assigned to the balance at the promo rate which ends first.

Also, check the handling fee payable on money transfers. Virgin normally charges 4% of the sum shifted to current accounts, 2.98% for balance transfers from another credit card.

  • Hi Moogles, I'm currently paying 27% !!! so it will stay the same then? That isnt how she described it.

At no point was 4% mentioned. It was 2.98% into my bank. Think this is going to go pear shaped.

Have you checked your account online under "my promotions" to see if this offer is mentioned? It would help to see the details in black and white.
