Natwest (RBS) have just given me 12months 0% balance transfer with 2.99% fee when I asked to close the account. Required a zero balance on the card.
Thanks sm566! I rang Natwest and also managed 0%....they weren't quite as generous with me however, I got 6 months @ 0%. Very pleased though, so thanks very much0 -

Did you ask to close the account? Were you charged a balance transfer fee?People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Just got a BT with Capital One @ 9.94% with a 0.79 BT fee. Not earth shattering but worthwhile for us, a big improvement on the 16.9% we've been paying on Nat West. Tried to haggle Capital One down further but couldn't get anywhere. (Didn't threaten to close the account, like some people may recommend).0

Virgin does it yet again!!! 0% on purchases for 9 months for existing customer. just appeared on my online account. yippeeeeee it also specifically mentiones "No Fee" though why they needed to put that is beyond me as purchases never had a fee for customers.. now to go and blow £15000 away....just kidding will stash it away in a 3.5% savings account and pay off a card coming off 0% BT next week.:beer::beer:0

If you have 0% on purchases only how can you put some away in a savings account and pay another card with it?! Won't these both be charged at your standard rates?0 -

can I ask, if you didn't threaten to close the account down - did you just ask if there were any offers around?0 -

Hi Kindof, I asked if there were any offers around, and I really tried to get them down but no chance. Still a useful saving for us though, and thanks, Moggles, at least you've confirmed that they are a tough one, and I didn't fail badly in my efforts.0 -
Sorry guys should have clarified. I would pay for everything on the virgin card and put the cash saved (i.e direct debits being suspended for the month) into a savings account and paying off the other card.
you can pay your mobile, utilities, etc and other large purchases for friends and family and take the cash and stash it away. that way they are all purchases attracting 0%. its a bit of a round about way but for 0% rates the efforts worth it!!!!:beer::beer:0
