Anybody have any experience of whether Halifax negotiate the fee down?
You can negotiate a lower rate with some lenders, but Halifax is not one of them, IME. Follow-on offers are strictly by invitation only. Still, there's no harm in asking.
Was wondering whether the LOB deals are worth it... Will the interest charged to the account attract standard purchase rates?
No, if you've been offered a 'life-of-balance' transfer deal, the special low rate applies until the debt you've shifted is repaid in full.

Just remember to put all new spending on another credit card and you'll be fine ;)

    Absolutely.

Watch out for a minimum spend requirement though. (The bank is normally quite up front about this where applicable.) ;)

Is there a minimum spend requirement of £100? (LloydsTsB is normally quite up front about this.)

If so, to avoid interest on the £100 spend accruing once the 0% on purchases expires, you would need to pay off the balance, then request your balance transfer(s) within 6 weeks of account opening ;)

They are also doing 4.94% LOB with 3% Fee. OH got a mailer a week or so back. Offer is valid until Jan. I believe there is a code on the letter somewhere.

Hi All, About to cancel my Halifax card with a zero balance, got offered by retentions

0% for six months with a 3% handling

    or

5.94% for life of balance with a 3% handling.

Tried to knock the handling charge but they would not budge!
