No baby yet
Has been an eventful day so far what with contractions and the car's MOT. I ended up going to my parents so I wasnt on my own. Hsuabdn ended up stuck at the MOT place but I had my dad go get him since I was in pain. Contractions were coming between 2 and 5 minutes and 1 minute long but when I left to go to hospital to be checked (as it hurts) they tailed off and now Im getting them painful but not as often. Going to try and see if I can take a nap but not sure if I will be able to, Im just so tired. Had a change of plans with hospital as the one I was going to said I couldnt have the birthing pool
and since husband was stuck in the town of the other local hospital I went through there with my dad to pick him up and decided I would go get checekd while there and will go back there to give birth.
Now that Im feeling the pain Im realising Im going to definitely need pain relief lol though I havent looked at any other than pool and gas and air! Can you have pethidine then epidural if its not helpful? I have no idea! Which is best?!:j0 -
You can have pethidine and then the epidural..
pethidine makes you feel really drunk and completely out of it.. epidural often makes people very very cold and shivery and is just an odd sensation.
I didnt mind either TBH but the epidural can be topped up.. lasts longer works faster and gets rid of the pain entirely.. but you cannot feel to push.
Pethidine wears off hopefully before you need to push so you feel it.. all of it.
I would say start with gas and air.. and have the epidural or pethidine if you feel the need later on.. play it by ear!!! Don't have any hard or fast rule about anything.
Keep walking/upright as much as possible..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
The gas and air was good for me. It didn't ease the pain but it seemed to keep me calm. I had an injection of omnipon, it was useless. Drug called remiphentenol is supposed to be excellent as you press a button as your contractionstarts, and it releases a small dose each time. So you don't feel drugged, but it helps the pain, plus it gives you the control of it. Supposed to be good for first time mums.
Epidural is always an option no matter what else you try first, as far as I know.First Baby born January 2007

Sparkle  at bleeding but Im glad it's stopped (im jealous of DTD, Im not getting any at the mo!:o)
I have a hypnobirthing cd and book due to come from Bizzie Baby - they want me to review it apparently but it still hasn't come annoyingly as I'd like to give it a go now.
Sorry to hear things have slowed down supermaiden but they haven't stopped completely so that's got to be a good sign!
I have lots of low down pressure at the mo - feels like there is a bowling ball in between my legs at times!
Big hugs and labour vibes to those who need them!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

Mucus-y blood or period-y blood? If the latter I would ring labour ward xx:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

I can't belive that i'm going to have a baby in the next 2 weeks. :eek:I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

A woman I work with has told me to ask for Meptid instead of pethidine. Apparently it doesn't make you drowsy and doesn't make baby drowsy either...
Hope you're doing ok this morning.
30 weeks tomorrow for me - bump is feeling quite heavy (has been low for weeks) - starting to worry this baby is going to arrive early...... eep!
