    LOL @ you lot....

CHILL!!! You WILL not drop/break/damage or otherwise snap the baby.. seriously.. my OH hadn't even SEEN a baby at close range before ours was dumped in his arms and he hasn't done her any damage yet.. he's a bit rough on the bum wiping but he is one of the least coordinated graceful people I know (after myself of course) We are the sort that cannot talk and dance because the dancing takes too much concentration!

I promise you.. you will be fine.. and the first nappy changes you will be supervised or helped or shown if necessary.. though you may have to ask.. you will be offered help with bathing and dressing and feeding so it will be ok.

And yes it is normal to fret about it.. but by day 2 you will feel ike you have been doing this forever!!!

When I had DD2 a woman had just had her first and took 45 minutes to change 1 nappy... I came in and did DD2's in about 5 seconds... I ended up hugging her telling her she would get quicker and I'd had year of practice and she would soon be able to do them in her sleep...

Welcome boat girl - you are not far behind me. I'm due 28th October with my 3rd. Keep trying to get hold of your midwife - I'm lucky as mine is a friend :D. Are they attached to a doctors surgery? If so, try the surgery to get an appointment.

And yes PP is right - you will all be fine!! It will all come naturally to you I'm sure!

I haven't felt baby today which is really unusual as he's normally manic so I just had a glass of cold water. He's now going mad trying to get out the way :rotfl:

Awww thanks Pigpen - Do you know what I'm scared of? Taking the pram out for the first time. I know I'll pick everything else up (changing, feeding etc) but I cannot get my head around pushing a pram about. What if I get in someone's way or block an aisle in a shop. Will everybody look at me, what will they be thinking? :rotfl:Lol I have told hubby he has to be with me the first time as I am too scared to go out on my own!! What is wrong with me :rotfl:?

Oh and hi Boat Girl  you're due the same day as my sister and she's having a girl too. Congratulations! I can't help with midwives as luckily mine have always been fab and made all my appointments well in advance. But someone will be along with some advice shortly I'm sure
    xx

I knocked down a whole display in Superdrug last week, my LO is 10 months old and the youngest of 4, I blamed it on the pushchair and the lady went 'Oh I know aren't they awful to steer' :o

I think when you have a newborn you tend to be over careful with everything, I wouldn't worry. If you do do something just say 'Oh I've not quite got the hang of this yet' and people will laugh with you :)

Or you can just blame the buggy like I do :rotfl:

ETA Kandboys is right, plus you won't be able to move at any speed because of all the admiring old ladies if where you live is anything like here. They can't resist a baby :o

Clarieloo - you will be fine. I bet you will be proud more than anything the first time you take bubs out in it!

Some advice I can give first timers is you don't need to take everything but the kitchen sink with you when you take baby out for a walk! I used to take masses of changes of clothes, nappies etc! Felt like a pack horse! Just take the essentials

You will be so busy beaming with joy at your new arrival and all the people in shops will want a peak in and ask the name and weight they won't care if you hog the space a bit.. and neither will you.

Hmmph. I'll possibly get distracted and leave the pram and baby in an aisle at Asda by mistake..... Wouldn't be unlike me at all.

Coming from someone who regularly went to school without a pen... You won't ;)

If nothing else you'll be worried about doing it so it won't happen :)
