Parking - our hospital has a couple of "baby pickup" spaces outside the labour ward, maximum 20mins stay. Carpark is 90p and hour - max £10 a day. Parking across the street outside peoples houses - free. Although it is a bit of a trek, the closest street is double yellows.
Washing powder - we use surcare. Its non-bio and 100% purfume, dye and fragrance free. Hubby has terrible eczema and its all he can use. Used to be a nightmare to get hold of it but its in all the supermarkets now. Also using their washing up liquid - no excuse for him not washing up now! :-)
Pigpen - we also cant use Fairy - hubby has a terrible reaction to it.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
The only one myself and DH can use is Bold 2 in 1. I'm allergic to Persil and he's allergic to Fairy and Ariel.
I was hoping to wash the babies clothes in the same detergent that we use. Is this a really bad idea and should I be using non-bio.
Obv if she turns out to have an issue with Bold then I'll try something else for her.0 -
We've been advised to start off washing the babies stuff with the same washing liquid as the hubby uses. It is very possible the baby will have hubbys poorly skin so logical starting place would be to use what we know he is ok using.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0

Quick question about hospital bag. Is it best to put babys stuff in with my bag or to pack a seperate little bag?
Going to pack an extra bag in case we have to stay in longer than expected, will put that somewhere for OH to bring in if needs be.
Have used the list for bag from first page but still worried I might have forgotton something!
Just thought I would bump this to see if anyone has any advice about whether or not I should be packing stuff in one or two bagsBiggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
I'm planning on doing 2 bags Flower, just for easiness. One bag with my stuff and one bag with baby stuff. And then an extra joint bag with both of our stuff to be left at home incase I'm in for longer. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I've got 2 bags, one for labour and one for after.
In the labour bag I have small bag with a few nappies, a handful of cotton wool, wipes, bum cream, baby grows, vests, hat and a blanket.
In the after bag I have a small bag with as above but more and an outfit and coat for coming home.
Also included a bin bag for the dirty washing (not what you asked but haven't seen it on the lists and seems logical!)
I have no idea if this is the best way to do it, as I've not done it before, but I didn't really want 3 bags and the labour bag is lots to do/eat/drink etc rather than normal stuff.Bump due 22nd September0 -

Mine looks the same.. except no things to do/eat.. never needed any of it before so doubt I will this time.. But I have very few bits in the after birth bag as I am staying a less than minimal time.. I am looking at being home within a couple of hours.. section or not.. I am NOT staying unless the baby needs us to... I want to be home... OHs mum is threatening to come stay a couple of days    I find it incredibly uncomfortable having house invaders so will REALLY struggle with this!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
the hospital i'm going to is 30 mins away
or so it says on the route planner, OH has assured me he will get me there in plenty of time so not to worry, I do have to take DS to my mums which is about 15 mins away so we're looking at 45 mins at least not including parking up eek!
Back from midwife, BP is raised from what it is normally but not outside the guidelines and protein in my urine, because of my history midwife has taken some bloods as a precaution and she will ring me if we need to do anything more. Baby is still not engaged, so just sitting back and waiting for news from midwife or something to happen.
Not in a good mood today

I'm also doing two bags, one for baby one for me, because I only have two small bags and I refuse to buy one big bag that will probably never be used again!
Just back from the midwife. Lots of "ah bless you poor pregnant person" looks that I wanted to slap. Stupid student midwife did all the measuring etc, baby is measuring big and she says he's "sturdy". Blah. Also said my blood pressure is fine. Well bullcocks is it - this time last week it was 90/55, while I was in hospital the highest it went was 115/65. Today its 140/85. I'm not flipping impressed at all.
Think I may have anger issues....
Kandboys - I'd have written a seriously sh1tty letter to the practice manager about those two nurses. Hope it all works out though.
Pigpen - I can't handle someone else in my house either, unless I know exactly when they are leaving. And certainly not to "stay" DH has been told in no uncertain terms to make sure anyone who wants to visit once I get home needs to ring first and if I say no, I mean no. Would OH try to discourage his mother or does he like the idea of having her there?0
