I can't believe how expensive the parking is at some of your hospitals! Here it is £2 per day amd your ticket expires at midnight. The post-natal ward has visiting times 3 times a day so you can buy one ticket and use it at all 3 sessions. Not sure what happens when you're in labour though...don't really fancy OH "nipping out" at midnight to pay for more parking if I'm 10cm dilated lol
I didnt realise how expensive this hospital was for parking compared to others! I suppose the one 'good' thing about here is that you pay when you leave so you dont have to keep running out to get a new ticket.
I am pretty sure as well that at the hospital I am going to you can get a 2 day pass but have to get that from the hut before you go into the car park.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
We dont pay for parking.. we park across the road in the residential area..
here is £1.50 for an hour £2.50 for 2 hours £5 for the day.. but when I had the others we stuck a note in the car window saying we were up on labour ward and had no issue.. even though my mother had parked in the day surgery unit which has about 10 spaces.. the labour ward building has maybe 40 parking spaces BUT they are shared with childrens outpatients, gynae, postnatal, SCBU and most other stuff in between so there is NEVER a space.. the only time we got parked there was when I went in at 7am with Squeak!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I am awake. This is not a good thing. I cannot get comfortable but I don't know why because I'm not really in much pain, just fidgetty.
Have come downstairs so DH can try and get some sleep, but I'm bored now lol.
Anyway, does anyone else think it's wrong we have to pay for parking at all?
Also, how far do people live from the hospital in minutes by car or foot or bus?
Finally, noticed people were discussing washing powder earlier. Does anyone use anything other than fairy?
I have used fairy religiously for the last 7 years, since moving out as anything else irritated my skin. However, recently our washing machine decided it didn't like the powder and would therefore leave residue all over our clothes. So I tried those bubble things, they worked brilliantly and left no residue, but I can't believe how expensive they are. This week I bought some Tesco own Non Bio bubble things, and touch wood, they don't seem to be upsetting my skin, and are cleaning the clothes nicely. DH was noooot happy, he thought they would ruin our clothes. (He doesn't mind eating Tesco own fruit and fibre which could ruin his insides though). Incase anyone is particularly interested, the fairy was £6.99 for 20 washes, and the Tesco was £4 or 2 for £6 for 20 washes so much much cheaper.
Anyhow, hopefully someone else is still up to read and reply to my waffling! ;-)Bump due 22nd September0 -
Gonna go to bed now lol... Is it worth it! still quite uncomfortable, tummy feels tight and bloated, anyone know if that's normal after a sweep?Bump due 22nd September0

Hayley, I use Persil colour care, everything else brings me out in an itchy rashhayleythedaisy wrote: »Do other hospitals not give you a pass for free parking for labour?
Yeah, ours does, but there are only 8 'labour' spaces and you have to go and be examined first and be actually declared as being in labour before you get the pass to use one of the spaces, if there are any available :doh:You can't use the spaces if you have a C-section either as you aren't in labourWe dont pay for parking.. we park across the road in the residential area..
Ours is in the city centre so it is even more expensive to park outside the hospital, and of course there is no free parking unless you are a permit holder.
First day back at work today after 5 weeks off and I feel like a new starter  God help me when I go back after maternity leave. I'm really worried I am not going to be able to cope, I've had hardly any sleep due to my back/hips. I don't know why I had this bright spark idea about going back!0 -
I've used Ecover for years for the same reason, I use their washing up liquid too as any other doesn't agree. I don't get such a 'washing smell' as other people seem to though, and was toying with trying something like Fairy on the baby stuff?0

I have tended to use whatever is on offer- or has a nice pic when I'm buying. I'll probbaly have to think a little more about that side of things now. Parking- £1.50 an hour. Think the daily rate was around £6-8? Only glanced at it briefly!
Didn't sleep at all last night, everyway I turned was uncomfortable or sore somewhere. I now feel like a zombie, and I feel bruised down below. Not great. I have consultant's appointment in a week, and already know he will tell me my platelets have dropped- I'm bruising easily, bleeding easily, and have daily nosebleeds.
Sorry, I'm grumpy this morning....0 -

Morning Ladies,
I hope we have more smiles today Hayley hope that you managed to get some sleep, oh and i've seen you, you dont look stupid at all!!!! Fingers crossed the consultant gets you in soon.
Elmo hope you are not feeling too tired now! I have given up counting when i sleep and when i wake, it just stresses me out.
Parking charges our hospital allows you to buy a week pass for £10 when you go into labour, you just ask at reception and they give you a form to take to the office where they sort you out, i think im right in saying this is for the whole hospital so if you have a long term illness or something visiting is a lot cheaper.
I still have the period type pains every couple of hours but since this has been going on since Tuesday night im not too hopeful of an arrival any time soon, although i have now got constant back ache and have done a special poo this morning (and have really bad wind so its a good job im on my own today lol)
I have a midwife appointment this morning so will see what she says, fingers crossed its not too far away.
Labour vibes to the boldies0
