Quick Q – When are you all starting your mat leave? Flumpette due 26th Dec, I work P/T – Was planning on going on Mat leave from 5th Dec 2011 – 5th sept 2012. I have been told that
“Mimi can be away for up to 52 weeks on maternity leave. She will choose when she wants to start Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and leave. SMP and maternity leave cannot start before the 11th week before the week the baby is due unless Mimi gives birth before then. For early births – SMP and maternity leave begin the day after the birth.
Company will then confirm the date in writing including when you expect her back. If Mimi is returning earlier than previously planned or later than the previously agreed date she must give you eight weeks notice of when she intends to start work again”
I had planned to take shortened Mat leave due to wages – SMP is for 39 weeks – If I go on Mat leave 5th dec then I stop being paid w.c 27th Aug 2012 – will be back at work the following week (On the 5th Sept)
However – boss is REALLY grating me – so much so I’m ready to walk out and go home today and tell him I’ll be back tomorrow!
If I started my Mat leave 11 weeks before my due date (Which would be 10th Oct) what would happen after the 39 weeks? Will I have to rely on Tax credits as an income? technically wouldn’t be unemployed so cant JSA it ?

I am due on the 18th December and i am doing what you have said above, however i have some holiday so i finish on 14th Nov then mat leave starts 5th dec

I like to do all of mine in the end of november, early december because i am totally useless at keeping presents a secret.:o

What does he enjoy to do Lirin?

Cars.... :) I'd love to buy a turbo kit for the V6, but it's way pricey! It'll be on a wishlist for a lottery win I think.

Sci-fi, fantasy novels, games, power tools, italian leather (after our honeymoon he gets misty-eyed every time Italy is mentioned...). Might get him a leather jacket and a watch maybe....

    Men are horrible tobuy for!

  • Nothing to report from me today other than I bought a gym ball thingy to sit on. You know when you are getting close to your due date and people mention they have been on their gym ball, are they just sitting there or are their particular exercises to do to help baby on the way? Also, how long do they sit there for?

  • JENJADE - I have 17 days holiday (Work 2.5 days a week so its nearly 7 weeks off!) but have took one week off every other week until dec now

Think ive done something really bad - OH and his mum havent been speaking, I've been emailing her with updates and shes been replying but seem's "frosty" with me. Have sent her an update this month and put on the bottom "One last thing - I know you and XX aren't speaking right now, and i really dont want to pester you with these updates if you would rather not have them - Do you still want me to contact you or just leave it? (Obviously if you want me to leave it that's fine but i would like to let you know that the baby is here ok and send you some pics?)"

I thought it sounded ok at the time but now worried she might say "bog off" lol I really got on with MIL until her and OH fell out :(

(Another bad point is OH thinks i stopped emailing her a while ago, he told me "not to bother because she wont care")

I've officially put a stone on in weight - keep telling myself its a good thing but that little voice keeps shouting "DIET" at me!!

Last day at work tomorrow - have a funeral to attend in afternoon though :(

Hope your all ok - bed time for me. Night night xx

I'm a bit like that with my OH's mum Mimi, although they get on, she bugs him at time, but I love her to bits and I'm in constant contact with her :o I say carry on if you want to, infact it may help your OH and her's relationship if he can see she is bothering :)

Hope the funeral goes ok. Night x
