Oh and also while I remember.... Does anyone know much about hypnobirthing and associated costs? There is a 4 week course (3 hours per session) nearish to me but it's £450!! If that is tge going rate, perhaps it's worth the investment, but it seems a lot to me.....

Ive found two classes up here near me (Cumbria) One charges £180 for group classes and the other £250. For private classes one is £265 and the other is £450. So a wide variation in prices just there!

I would imagine prices depend on your area and the popularity/experience of the tutor.

Ive decided its just something i cant afford to do, although i will probably buy the CDs and do a bit of a DIY effort. :-)

I cant really afford the cost of a few hundred pounds for a course, so i think i will be doing an online course that was recommended to me by a hypnotherapist i've seen before for something else. Its about £50, and you can use it as many times as you like. TBH, i think i prefer the idea of being able to relax and do it in my own time at home, without other people around. I can get into a good "state" but it often takes me a while and i get distracted so not sure a group session would suit anyway!

I've found I'm starting to think about the labour a lot, now it's getting closer.....

I know this might be a stupid question, but if you wear glasses will they take them off? DH has been issued instructions to kick anyone who attempts to take my glasses off. I'm blinded in one eye, and remaining sight isn't great- and would hate if anything went wrong, and I can't see people's faces.... I know it's maybe a minor point, but I don't feel comfortable without being able to see, and contacts are usually out for me!

I'd be surprised if they did take your glasses off. You can explain if needed that you can't really see without them.

Got to try and sort my kitchen out today it's such a mess.

Got lots of washing done yesterday, in spite of having to keep getting it in and out because of the showers.

Must buy a cot mattress from somewhere, anyone got any recommendations? xx

  • re the hypnobirthing, i'm using natal hypnotherapy which i'm finding brilliant. not done a course as there are none near us, but i've read the book and i'm doing the exercises from that and i listen to the cd daily. the husband has really got into it as well.

not entirely sure what the difference between natal hypnotherapy and hypnobirthing are, but i vaguely recall that hypnobirthing had several different types of breathing for different stages, i could be wrong on that though.

right, i'm off to read back properly!

delain.. kiddicare is about the best for mattresses I think.. and you get quidco cashback! I need to get a mattress for the basket .. doing that tomorrow

my hips are terribly painful today, I feel like I havent slept in a week and I have loads to do... OH taken Squeak to throw bread at the ducks so I am going to do some bedroom shuffling to see if I can squeeze some stuff in there tidily and hopefully throw out some more rubbish! I may even make a concerted effort towards packing a bag.. or not.. :p

My cousin did the hypo birthing course. Think it cost about £200. She used her maternity grant to cover most of the cost. In the end, baby was breach and she had a section :p
I've been reading the book and practicing the breathing. Need to do much more practicing though. DD starts P1 tomorrow so I'm going to try and do a bit every morning.

Glad your ankles are getting back to normal Lirin. Nothing worse than standing about all day when preggers.
Welcome home blue monkey, hope you get settled in soon.
Hugs Kira, it's hard being away from family when they are upset.
    Hiya Sammy :T

We put the cot up this morning. My goodness it takes up a lot of room in the bedroom. And DD had to try it out. She wants to sleep in it tonight!!:D

Afternoon all, well i think my hormones are finally kicking in at 39+3, can't stop crying today. Feeling really fed up and starting to worry that this baby is going to be too big to come out. Stupid i know but there it is. It went head down at 36 weeks and was 2/5 engaged and hasn't moved any further since then despite RL tea, birthing ball, keeping moving and doing all the right things. If i go to the MW on Wednesday and she says it's still 2/5 i'm sure i'm going to end up in tears. Sorry for the moan but don't want to worry Hubby and don't really have anyone else to moan to:)

Dont worry ecoelle i think we are all on the same hormonal rollercoaster, i was in tears this morning and didnt know why. my bump is under the usual 'you should measure 37cm at 37 weeks' and still only measuring 35 i have an appointment on THursday with my midwife and im dreading it as they say will be classed as high risk if bump hasnt progressed - funny since i feel like ive ballooned the last few weeks!!!!

have a good cry and let it all out you'll feel better getting it off your chest xxxx
