Bad day... mum rang in tears. Following her Mammogram recall on Thursday and the wire guided biposy, she's had a letter recalling her back to the hospital again next Thursday to see a general surgeon. She has been told that what they saw are calcium deposits, which from my research could be harmless, and need no treatment, but she is convinced from what they have told her, that she will be missing one boob within 2 weeks. It just seems such mixed messages, noone has said it is anything other than deposits, but they left the biopsy guide wire in after the last appointment, and the appointment with the GS, is scary! I just feel so useless to do anything other than listen, especially with her being over 3 hours away.:(
Sorry ladies, its just getting me down.

You just have to try and stay calm and reassure your mum, tell her you've researched it and try and explain the best you can :( I suppose it is difficult when you're in a such a situation, like your mum is, to be totally calm about it all. May take her a few days to get her head around it all, and if she's anything like me she'l be thinking of the worse case scenarios. I remember I had a scab on my leg that wouldn't go away and in a few hours and a search of google I'd convinced myself it was skin cancer :o

On another note, my stomach has exploded over night, it seems huge

  • Morning ladies and bumps!

Hope Winnie is ok. She hasn't been on since her brief post when she was discharged from hospital. Unless I've missed it?

    Morning Ladies

Congrats to all the new mummies!! I have been reading, but not posting as have been soooo busy over the last ten days that i have made PP look lazy :p

The house that i got back from evil tenants has been painted and glossed from top to bottom, all the doors fixed, garden cleared and we had viewings over the weekend. It looks better than when i bought it, but have literally killed myself to get it up to scratch in time.

Then we got the keys to our new house on thursday - this is the one that looks and smells like an old peoples home!! So far we have decorated our room and DD's room, the carpets are being fitted at 9.30 this morn. We have started on the bathroom (it had padded wallpaper and carpet in there - lovely!) and will start on the nursery today. Oh and we have completely cleared front and rear gardens which took a day in itself. Its just so nice to be in before Peanut makes an appearance!!

7th after the boldies, so not long to go, just need her to stay in until i have finished paiting the upstairs!!!

Have a good day all, labour vibes and hugs to those that need them xx

  • Hi girls,

It's been a whole since I've been on as we were busy moving back to the UK. We're home now and starting to settle back in, though it's very strange to think that Australia is now over and done with! I'd also got used to being pregnant over there and it feels very strange to be pregnant over here and I really wish I could have a drink with all my pals!!! FIL pi55ed me right off as when I first saw him he said "oh I didn't recognise you at first as your, er face has er, rather filled out". Grrrr. I'd been feeling a bit para as everyone was saying how 'different' I looked which I'd hope wasn't code for 'fat', but probably has been....

Anyway... I haven't had a chance to read back, think this was on page 140 or something last time I posted so you girls have been proper chatty! I hope everyone is well though and I should be a better participant now!!

    BM :) x
  • Oh and also while I remember.... Does anyone know much about hypnobirthing and associated costs? There is a 4 week course (3 hours per session) nearish to me but it's £450!! If that is tge going rate, perhaps it's worth the investment, but it seems a lot to me.....
  • Welcome home bump buddy :D I thought you must be busy packing / moving when you hadn't been on for a while.

I'm sorry to hear that your FIL has upset you already. Some people can be really tactless without meaning to be. My sister keeps telling me how HUGE I am and I was starting to get really upset and paranoid that I was abnormally huge. But then this weekend a couple of people have commented on my small bump and how I'm not as big as they were, so I feel a bit reassured.

With regards the hypnobirthing, I think someone posted a while back about the cost and it was expensive, so they were thinking about just buying a hypnobirth CD instead.

At our hospital they do hypnobirthing, there are 2 group workshops to attend, lasting 6 hours each and costing £95 each. Have you checked with your local hospital?

    Morning all.

There's been a small change for a few people lately. Kira, at least you're there for your mum. It's very common to instantly think the worst- I know quite a few who've been through either scares or the real thing, and any official request to come in started a panic. :( I know it's a trite saying, but she has you even if you're not close by.....

Missy, glad evil tenants are truly a thing of the past. There must have been a craze for padded wallpaper in bathrooms though- when I measured our bathroom for tiles etc, it ended up an inch out.... Padded wallpaper on the walls under tiles, which were all hiding 3 quite sizeable holes, wood panelling on the ceiling (still there, may just paint it white), and this was the fun part- the floor had carpet, parquet flooring badly nailed, two layers of vinyl, and another layer of carpet..... :) And amazingly, there are so many variations of godawful flowery patterns I never knew existed.

Blue, hopefully your FIL didn't mean anything badly- he's maybe just extremely clumsy with words, or nervous. I don't know why, but a lot of my male friends are nervous around me, even though they're aware a man is needed to concieve- there's a backwards line of thought in NI that pregnancy is a 'woman's thing' and should never be mentioned. Nasty boss has went six months so far without referring to the pregnancy, maternity or baby so far- he refuses to mention anything..... :) 'Now that you've ah, put on a little, we'll get you bigger uniform' would be fairly typical.

Me this morning- slept on sofa as it was painful getting upstairs last night, so I just gave up. :) Think it was Seafarer's Wife who'd asked about pain on either side between legs? MW told me on Wed that it's normal and possibly mild SPD- basically, I'm pregnant and things will hurt, so I'd better get used to it. I had a fantastic night, DH slept on the floor, and had the worst night sleeping of his life I was told grumpily and sleepily this morning. :) He's off for two days, so he's comatose in the spot I vacated. My ankles have went down a little- I can feel my anklebones again!

I was at my niece's second birthday yestarday, and as I was leaving, my sister stopped me. She pointed at my stomach and said to her daughter, 'Look! Where's the baby? Do you know there's a baby in there?' My little niece toddled up and gave my stomach a huge kiss!
