Hiya ladies, i'm officially onto this thread now. I'm 30+4 today and absolutely shattered.
Anyone got any good hints for getting to sleep? All i seem to do is get too hot and un comfy then have to get up again, then go back to bed and this continues til i give up. Problem is i like my sleep, in fact i love it, i seem to be fine sleeping during the day but can't sleep at night?
Other than that everything seems to be pregressing fine. The early fears about the size of the baby seem to have been put to rest now that the baby is measuring on the bigger side, i knew it would, don't think there's never been a 6lb'der in our family, smallest they come is 8 so i'm preparing myself:)
Hope everyone else is doing well, my due date has slightly changed after scans to the 2nd September instead of the 5th but i'm thinking bubs might put in an appearance early if family traditions are anything to go by.
Anyone found a really good list of what to take with you to the hospital? I suppose people who've done this more than once might be better placed to answer that query:)
Smiles and love to all x0 -
Mr Knight I am going to listen to a hypnobirthing cd, got it from ebay as it had good reviews on Amazon...
BCS glad you feel better... and hope scan goes well for you both. Measuring 40 weeks must be slightly scary!
Supermaiden good luck for your OH, though maybe thins will right themselves at work still, either way you guys don't need the stress...
Ecoelle I can relate - for me having lots of cushions helps, and not too many sheets/duvet. Ideally I have the window a little open too, as if the room is too hot it's hard to sleep. But recent weather has meant closed windows....
One... more... day... at work - finding it so hard to get up early - like someone said, a turtle trying to get up off their back describes me in the morning these days!
A warning to anyone considering working close to their due date - if you can - plan things in such a way that you get *some* time off beforehand. It's easy to underestimate how tired you will be, I know I did! Then again everyone is different, I admire anyone who doesn't take the time off!:):)

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all ok and not feeling too bad. I'm having a bit of a wobble today as I'm realising just how much we need to do around the house before the baby gets here! The room that will be baby's room is currently my craft room and is packed to the rafters with fabric and scrapbooking materials and so needs to be cleared completely. I'm going to be having a crafting space in the dining room so have been sorting through the stuff I need and the stuff I want to get rid of but there's just so much and even though I don't want it it's too good to just throw out so now I'm looking for a local craft group / daycare group etc who might be able to make use of it. At the moment it is all in boxes in the spare room but we have guests coming this weekend so it needs to go. There's loads of other stuff that needs sorting out too, books, clothes etc and I feel sick thinking about it all.
I know I'm being silly getting stressed about this but I have come home today and am now mega stressed about this and just feel like crying. I think I need to get a grip!
Just feels like there is so much to do and even when I do have spare time (still working full time and then some!) I'm just so tired all I want to do is curl up in bed and relax! My other half is being lovely and telling me not to worry but he doesn't seem to realise how much this is bothering me.
Sorry for the really self indulgent whiny post, just wanted to get it off my (ever increasing) chest!
Thanks lovely ladies,

Mancbird - I know exactly how you feel! I am in the same situation, our nursery is the junk room/craft room and I cant believe how much stuff we have managed to accumulate in such a short space of time.
OH is supposed to be moving my desk and drawers into the dining room so I can get it all sorted out down there, but it still hasnt been done.
He keeps saying we have so much time left, and I know hes right, but at the same time the weeks just seem to be flying by!
We cant seem to agree on any of the furniture/bedding/decor etc..Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
mancbird.. seriously And I did loads when pregnant last year. Last year I fully decorated.. inc wallpapering.. and carpetted 4 bedrooms (I fitted 3 of the carpets!) I repainted the kitchen and the hall/stairs and landing and had the kitchen windows replaced!. This time I have had the gutter replaced and the bay roof fixed.. the 5th bedroom is getting plastered decorated and carpetted then. I have 2 or 3 more windows I want replacing before the baby arrives. I am also pricing up underfloor heating and laminate for the back room and decorating 2 rooms downstairs.. I have approx. 12 weeks to get it done in!!
I have removed the cyst from my nose so am feeling much less unsightlyI am certain it will scar but anything is better than the pea sized cyst I had earlier
Amazing what you can do with a pair of tweezers!
I think the baby is trying to fly.. it is flappings its arms madly.. which is very odd as its arms are in my pelvis.. occasionally the legs will shift about but it rarely actually kicks... it is quite strange. In fact usually the only time it kicks is when squeak is outside kicking my tummy and Dot starts kicking from inside.. I feel bruised!
I also feel like it is about to drop out.. it is incredibly low down in my pelvis and keeps shiftings its head about and that with the wriggly arms is very odd. It does mean my pelvis is probably more stable than it would be if the baby was higher I guess. It is quite big now so my hernia is less of a problem as the baby is behind my navel now
My feet are swollen.. I have cankles
My hands are swollen
I have a spot on my bot
but my nose-cyst is gone!
OH has spent most of the day on FB chat again... I feel the urge to make him come shopping!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Added some pics to give you an idea of the range but there's more on the linkBump due 22nd September0 -

Morning ladies!
Hope you're all having better weather than us, it's been more like November than June.
Re snacks: in my middle weeks I bought loads of mini babybel and kept them in my coat pocketsI also liked peanut butter on crackers or oatcakes, but recently I seem to be just eating berries.
Re breastpump: I thought I saw Nuby publicising a 50% off offer through their FB updates... I didn't check it out as I'm hoping I'll be able to cope with just a manual.
Re phased return to work: I'm trying to keep my options open, as I have no idea how I'm going to feel about all that once the baby is here, but I have put in my head the earliest return date if I use the hollidays I accumulate over maternity leave as holidays to make a 3-day week IYSWIM. Childcare is near £50 a day in this area, so I'm going to have to work it out quite carefully.
Re hypnobirth: dragged OH to our first session on Saturday (won half-price sessions in a prize draw at the baby show). It was a bit odd, and I'm going to have to get my head around it, but my friend absolutely swears by it. OH couldn't take it seriously at all and tried to give me a wedgie the minute the hypnolady left the room for two minutes...
For anyone as clueless as me about babies: I bought the Jo Tatum book "baby secrets". I heard her speak at the baby show. I'm not at all a routine person, and I'm not going to use it as a bible, but it does at least give me a more realistic idea of what to expect than what I get told by well-meaning relatives who had their babies thirty years ago or work colleagues.
I have my 32-week check-up with the midwife today and will have to mention to her that since DTD the last time my hips/pelvis has been very painful and clicking. I'm gutted, as I love walking to work, but I think that will have to stop as it's taking me twice as long to get there just now.
Mancbird: I had a total panic phase at about the same stage as you. I was harassing everyone about the state of the spare room, couldn't sleep for worry and put myself in a total frenzy. Very unproductive. The room still doesn't look much clearer now (I'm 32 weeks today), but I couldn't give a monkeys. I'm too knackered! The baby has somewhere to sleep and stuff to wear, basic nappies and food. That will have to do. I'll keep pecking away at the room, but it's going to sleep in with us for the first few weeks anyway, so it's not an issue anymore.
Sorry about the long post, I don't manage to get on here very often.
Hope everyone is feeling ok!
p.s. thanks everyone for the replies about bras and bra fitting, very useful and interesting discussion. I'm going to have to go get my THIRD size up this week-end0 -
Morning ladies and bumps!
We went to our first ante-natal class last night. We decided to do the NCT ones as they were recommended but I know they aren't for everyone and lots of people will say its not worth forking out for them. Anyhoo, I just thought I would give my thoughts in case anyone is interested.
Well I should first say that we missed the first 2 due to being on holiday so this was actually the third class (2 hours) and it discussed labour positions and touched a bit on breathing techniques in labour. Also we had to do an exercise which made you think about how random labour can be and how much it can vary from person to person -no s**t! But the point was to make you think about where you and partners could be at any given time of day and how that may affect things for you i.e sitting in rush hour traffic etc. Also had long lesson on delivery of the placenta which I must say I had given no thought to whatsoever so I probably found that the most useful thing in terms of learning something new.
All in all I found it good but a bit "hippyish" :rotfl: But the other couples all seemed lovely and given that I don't have any close pregnant friends nearby that was probably my main motivation for going - to meet other people.
Is anyone else doing the NCT classes?Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
I did the NCT classes Claireloo and really enjoyed them. My DH found them particularly useful. Our first lesson was the most indepth one though.
I think I've started to have contractions. About every 5mins, lasting under 1 min. They feel like really bad period/back pain - do you think I should call the midwife?Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
