A new cd arrived yesterday, a lullaby CD which got excellent reviews on Amazon for getting babies off to sleep easily. Thought it was worth a try for less than £10, and that if i got it early, i could play it to bump to familiarise it with the rhythym.

I just put it on for DH to listen to, and he fell zonko asleep on the living room floor. Took me about 15 minutes to get him to wake up.
Not quite the purpose i bought it for, husband taming, but next time he is making demands for "his rights", i might just stick it on again!:D

    21 week scan tomorrow! Wooo!

  • Abby- get the forms for britains got talent, i think you've got a winner!
as for the car seat, you could go to mothercare or somewhere and see what they have, the bigger stores do fitting.
    Or go to. Www.britax.co.UK/car-seats/fitfinder
obviously only shows britax ones though.

Abby not sure if this will be any help but a graco junior car seat which has a seat belt fitted base definitely fits no problem in a fiat punto so should also fit in your OHs car. I found this out when my younger son was a baby and his silver cross car seat would not even fit through the space to the back seat of the courtesy car I had let alone fit on the seat safely. I had to to go to mother care and get a new car seat before I could drive home!

I had one with DD1 same as that.. neither use nor ornament and made me very very sore because however tight it was fastened it rubbed terribly on my sides. The crispy velcro was also on the wrong bits to I had that scratching my tummy too..

My hips being an issue anyway it made them feel like red hot pokers were in my sockets rather than bone.

I had severe sciatica with her.

There is also this style.. which I cant quite bring myself to try

I can see why you're reluctant. Egyptian mummy chic probably won't hit the UK anytime soon :rotfl::rotfl:

Twinkle I have mushed up baby brain, but I don't think it ever came back after DD1 :p

I do have a question, I have a mamas and papas newborn car seat (isofix thingy) however it is too big to fit into Fluffys little ford fiesta! Hes taking me home next week for 2 days (argh nervous) and its just not going to work baby being in that car seat. Are they all as big? Its the distance from the back seat to the back of his seat that is the problem. Can anyone recommend an affordable alternative.

Can it not go in the middle seat which is a safer position in the car anyway? (In an accident there is more car to crush before the middle seat is crumpled it is therefore safer and passengers sitting here are more likely to survive a crash)

Will it go behind the passenger seat if the seat is moved as far forward as possible? You might then have to sit in the back if there is no leg room though :p

We got the Britax SHR which is one of the smallest ones we found.. hence snakey babe had outgrown it by 8 months! It had plenty of room in the focus with a highback booster either side! It can be fitted just using a seat belt too which was hndy as there were no isofix in that car.

Bump bands- got given some, last recall using one when I was checking oil in the car. Useless invention.

Maternity support bands- anyone used one? Was thinking about one maybe, as I'm starting to get quite a sore back now (bump+boobs- lot of weight there now....). It's just- they look like something you leave A&E with! Do they work?

It did for me last time!

If you go to the docs and say your back is sore you can ask to be referred to the pregnancy physio group... They give them out free there :)

WW DH suggested it quite a while ago and I kept saying no but now, having had a great (pregnancy allowable) sleep I wish I'd said yes much sooner! Poor DH doesn't feel as good this morning but it made a huge difference to me.

At the mo I'm tempted to go as far as separate rooms!! My poor sleep has resulted in OH's sleep pattern going haywire, so if I'm not awake with pain, I'm awake because he is reading or tossing and turning.

if I was able to turn over it would have been called tossing and turning.. as it is it was more like stropping and grotting.

Hmmm ... I know that feeling, I now have to wake OH up and ask him to roll me over when pain gets too bad :o

Sandy i'm planning on using sleeping bags. I've got two as it buy one get one half price. As baby is due in December i got a 2.5tog and and 1tog as they will prob still fit in it when it gets to Spring. On the packet on the back it does say what the baby should wear with each tog. HTH:)

I haven't bought any as I heard that newborns shouldn't sleep in them, despite that the shops sell them 0-6 months. I suppose it depends on the size of the neck area on the sleeping bag. I will get a variety to try once baby is here.

I can't go to bed because my legs hurt so much that I know I'm going to keep OH awake. I've been on my feet too much today. FIL was up visiting helping OH build our new wardrobes and all the hammering and banging was getting on my nerves so I went out. So I didn't get any catch up sleep and I'm sore from my boobs downwards :( Nevermind though, I've got nice wardrobes :D as well as a broken mirror and broken window catch
