I'm very jealous of the lovely silver-cross prams Mimi and Flower! With DD i had a nissan micra, so no way would one of those have fitted in it, so i got a Graco travel system pram. Which I'll be reusing (very MSE), even though i now have a Renault Scenic.

I never heard about the superstition re: prams in the house. TBH i would have ignored it anyway, as I'd prefer to be prepared!

Just bounce gentle on it with hips apart to help the baby engage and get nice and low. I use mine a lot now that baby is head down.

I have a swaddling wrap and a baby sleeping bag. Not used the swaddling thing before but the sleeping bag will be to bulky for the moses basket i think. I have 2 fitted and 2 flat sheets for the basket, but pillowcases are a great idea Twinkle and Hayley! I'll use the sleeping bag in the cot. It worked wonders getting DD to sleep from 6 weeks onwards. (Mine is non branded but I was never worried about DD slipping down and getting suffocated. think it's too neat fitting under the arms for that.) She was born in January so it kept her nice and warm and stopped her kicking too much.

I had a Gracco 3 - in - 1 with DD and tbh i only picked it as it was cheap and cheerful and we was in debt.

This time around i thought "sod it" - no longer in debt so am splashing out lol I havent brought anything else though (I do need to get baby clothes) As i kept car seat/cot etc so its my splurge!

Well we know we are having a boy, but I think if we didnt now we would of gone for the ebony one as your right people do automatically associate anything blue with baby being a boy!
Is it sad that I got very excited when our pram arrived and wanted to set it all up? :o

I'm having another girly so figured black would be better option lol No not sad - i'm the same!!

The pram is the one thing we have splashed out on. I wanted that one from day one but there was no way we could afford it, then OHs parents said they wanted to contribute some money to the pram so they paid half and we paid half - we are very lucky :)

Everything else has been bought either second hand or in the sales as we are very conscious that our income isnt huge and we are still trying to pay off our debts.

car boots are brilliant!! I've picked these up pretty cheap: http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2000&e=product&pid=38839 and http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-Aquarium-Take-Along-Swing/dp/B0002VZ21Y

both I had with DD1 and they was amazing.

    :D
  • you know for the price match - what do you say lol

"I've found it cheaper on Amazon" . . . . . ??? Do i have to have it delivered by Mother care or can i collect in store? (Do i need to buy it from amazon and then claim it back through Mothercare?)

Thank you Koala mummy. I'm sure you were demented for 2 weeks. Great that baby was so much better with the MAM bottles!!
I had problems with the TommieTippie Closer to nature bottles too. I had planned on breast-feeding so when i gave that up i only had 2 bottles, an avent one and a Tommytippee one that came with the manual breast pump. DD constantly boked with the TT one but didn't when fed with the Avent one. Binned the TT bottle and bought a set of the Avent ones and she was grand.
I was lucky that i had another bottle to compare it with, as i initially thought it was me not knowing how to bottle feed/ and baby adjusting from breast to bottle.

Yep say you found it cheaper on Amazon, every time I've rang it's been an easy phone call, they just look on amazon to check and they place the order for you over the phone. You have to have it delivered by Mothercare, and you have to order over the phone, otherwise you could retrospectively get the pricematched but not get the voucher.

I cheated - I bought a swaddling thing when DD was a baby from ebay:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Summer-Infant-SwaddleMe-Monkey-Small-Baby-Swaddle-/300587792334?pt=UK_Baby_NurseryBedding_RL&hash=item45fc6db7ce

    Similar but not exact. lol

I got 4 for Squeak from Pumpkin patch and she never used them.. she preferred the sheet so her feet could poke out!
I dont get bump bands - whats the point?

No point whatsoever.. they are SO irritating as well.. roll up, roll down, twist every way possible... BIN!!!!!

Bump bands- got given some, last recall using one when I was checking oil in the car. Useless invention.

Maternity support bands- anyone used one? Was thinking about one maybe, as I'm starting to get quite a sore back now (bump+boobs- lot of weight there now....). It's just- they look like something you leave A&E with! Do they work?

It used to last week, now the only thing I can drink that doesn't give me heartburn is full cream milk!

all ok with the midwife this morning, baby head down, heartbeat grand, blood pressure good.

    done birthing plan

was asked what meds i wanted, so i replied whatever they have to offer me i quite like drugs lol

had pethadene with my first and gas and air with my second so will just see how i go

have asked for an active labour as with my first two they wouldnt let me get off the bed and i was sooo uncomfortable and they ended up having to break my waters so hopefully if i can move around the waters wil brake themselves this time.

have asked the to clean the baby up before having skin to skin contact too. to be honest with my first my mum held him first and with my second my hubby held him first so may just be selfush this time and have the first cuddle but will see what meds i have had and how i feel

my boys have gone fishing with my brother so i now have a couple of hrs to myself whoop whoop

also just picked up a nappy bin and a buggy toy that goes across the front off freecycle
now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j

my support band is AMAZING, im not giving it back either once ive had the baby, the pressure it puts on my back helps releive the worst of the pain and its heaven. i do get the odd funny look as i cant wear mine directly on my skin, need to wear it over my trousers as otherwise it irritates the heck out of me.
