Hiya, I think the bottles you're after are in Boots. I've got a box of 12 (I think) and they're sterile pre done formular. I got them specifically for hosp but i think they only come in the one sized box. I've got sma. HTH

re-tens, apparently my local hosp have them but I am still wondering whether to hire one for home - any thoughts? I'm hoping to cope(????) at home for as long as poss so thought the tens may be the help I need.

I'm going to start washing baby's clothes this weekend. Just the ones for the hosp bag and some back ups. I don't want to de-label everything until my little boy is born and is definitely a boy. I know that sounds silly.

When is pineapple chomping the right time to start - 40 weeks or earlier? I tried a cup of rlt today and I hated it! I will drink it when it's hotter tomorrow to see if it's any easier.

I can't remember who asked (sorry) but I'm working till just past 36 weeks and quite frankly this is a struggle for me. Perhaps if you're able to, it might be worth looking at reducing to part time for a while (using leave so your mat pay isn't lower) to help your wind down from work? A friend worked till 38 weeks and had her babe that first night!

Labour vibes to those who want them.

RLT... make it.. leave it to steep for ages... add 4 sugars to the mug.. leave it to go stone cold.. hold breath and drink really quickly.. OR... get the tablets.. and take with loads of water.. if they dissolve in your throat it is like you have drunk acid!!

I am bad.. so very very very bad...

I have just ordered... a new dining table and chairs in the next sale.. I hate my kitchen table... it was £50 from a charity shop as we were desperate and it is hard to fit 6 chairs round it due to the positioning of the legs.. so.. I ordered a new one.. with legs on the very corners AND it extends from 4 seats to 8 so perfect.. mu justification being it was reduced from £330 to £160.. and I got 8 chairs.. £15 each.... AND loads and loads and loads of clothes for the children and OH .. Tomorrow I am going to spend around £500 in Ikea...

I need to rob a bank!

I think I have a nesting problem... lol

I have decided next week I am sorting through the school uniform cupboard and restocking nursery spares boxes.. I already sorted them a binbag of dressing up gear and I took 2 binbags of spares a couple of weeks ago.. AND seeing as I con't have a start date or even a quote from the decorator I am going to sand and undercoat the skirting and the door.. and the radiator.. If the decorator doesn't hurry up I'll be whizzing out my roller on a stick and doing the ceiling myself.. or having OH do it while I strip the remaining bits of welded on paper.

I think it will now be Monday before I get to go view carpets (4.3m x 4.7m the room!! scary big!)

  • What happens if you dont know if your milk is going to come in or not?

Im planning on breast feeding, but what if it doesnt happen? Will OH be sent home to get bottles and buy formula?

I guess you have to take some with you just in case?
I haven't even bought any formula as I was waiting to see what kind they give me at the hospital as they used to use SMA in 1994, 1996 & 1998.

Surely they must have some bottles there as i'm dammned if i'm going to be making up bottles before rushing off to hospital when i'm in labour.

I think you just make them up once the baby is born, or the nursing auxilliary will?

I think it was Doglover who mentioned the bottles in Boots. I'm going to have a look for them as I don't really want to be carting formula etc as well, plus, I'd be worried about my stuff getting lost / relocated, or getting someone else's bottles by mistake

Just after a bit of advice really. When is everyone starting their maternity leave?
I would like to work as long as poss so was thinking off leaving mid/late November when i'll be 34/35 weeks.

Congrats on your pregnancy Lauralou! I'm working up to 38 weeks - everyone thinks I'm mad..... I'm 30+5 now and it was a struggle to get up at 5:45am this morning to walk the dog - I have planned to cut down to 4 day weeks week after next - can't wait but I still think getting to 38 may be a struggle!

Welcome to the other newbies too

Congrats to Anderson and Supermaiden - sorry your births didn't go to plan but you have your wonderful babies now....

I'm 28th (after boldies) on the list. I remember being bottom for ages and practically begging people to join the thread so I wasn't last anymore....

My belly was aching last night - like the dull period pain aches I used to get (bah, periods will return.... boo). Was starting to wonder if that's how labour starts..... Baby was going mental for most of the night too, little rascal.

Have a nice day ladies - vibes to the boldies

    xDx

d_debski, I'm planning on working til 38 weeks as wekk, but I've a couple of weeks annual leave left yet, which I may book in a block before maternity, or eek out nearer the time. Mine's an office job, and I've had relatively few pregnancy issues- usual aches and pains, but no MS or any problems- so for now, think I could.

Though, I'm sitting in work now looking out the window and thinking I'll probably die of boredom in the next 18 weeks, as I'm not allowed to lift as much as an envelope anymore in here.....

Congrats Anderson8 on the baby! And hiya to newbies.

I'm sure you will be fine. I'm just one of the odd, rare ones I guess! I struggled to breastfeed DS1 for 6 days and he went from 7lb 13oz to 6lb 8oz. I know they lose a bit of weight but that was too much and I went straight onto the bottles. My boobs just never fill up lol :rotfl:.

My sister in law is a trainee midwife at the hospital so I'll ask her about the bottles. I use Aptamil as that just seemed to be best for both my boys. Every baby is different though. Never seen the little disposable ones in Boots, will have to have a look. I wonder if they are online?

EDIT: I can't see them online!
