I nearly had a heartattack when I needed to tell my mum - she just burst into tears which made me feel even worse! Don't know why I was so panicked Im 23 so not a teenager and we've been together 4 1/2 years and living together for 3 years but I still reverted to feeling like a naughty girl!

By the sounds of it DS1 expected me to be cross or something.. erm.. why?

    Oh that's funny :rotfl:

It is hard telling parents though if it was unplanned.

I get moaned at every time, so I don't do 'announcements'.

My mum commented that I never 'announce' it, but I know if I did and expected people to be (or even pretend to be) happy or congratulate me I'd just get upset to be greeted with a speech about how stupid and selfish OH and I are and that we should know better so I let them figure it out on their own.

I text my mother the scan pic and 'thought I best tell you about this' .... she said she would be in touch 'when she could think of something sensible to say'.. I replied 'Given the last 57 years I will not hold my breath!'

squeak... I didn't tell her at all until she asked me when I was 17 weeks and it was blatantly obvious.. 'when are you going to fess up about that?' ... 'When you ask me because I can't be bothered with you harping on at me then telling me how noone told you how many children you could or couldn't have'

She has been extremely negative with all of my pregnancies and when I had my first miscarriage and was upset.. she said I was 'just pathetic' ... erm.. yeah, ok then!

Some people just haven't got the hang of parenting lol.

My mum is a write off, seriously she lives in her own little world and gets upset on my behalf about things that don't bother me at all? and then rings me up and tells me I'm a terrible mum and I'm selfish, I don't have their clothes freshly ironed and put out every day bla bla bla like she did... Except... She didn't!! And then her behaviour as we got older was awful - but she conveniently forgets everything she put us through when she is giving me a speech because my house has more rules than hers did/does.

The hypocrisy of it really annoys me, as well as the fact that at 7 and 8 they are surely quite capable of getting some clothes out of a drawer

Anyway she's still annoyed about the baby, she just disguises it as being 'worried about me'

The worst one was telling my boss when I was expecting DS1. Picture a very stuffy older solicitor! I felt really embarrassed for some reason as if he knew what I had been doing :rotfl:

Pigpen, congrats.... Supermaiden, Miles is lovely....

I squirmed telling my Mum as well, even though I was 29, married, had lived with Hobbit for four years, and baby is planned (albeit quite a lot sooner than we'd anticipated.)

My parents and Hobbit's parents are very laid back about it all- bots sets have been giving me evil looks and delight in telling me I get to experience all the joys they did- and spend hours telling everyone about every single thing I/he did as a child that was naughty.....

Now I didn't voice it but I hope to God it is a little $h!t like DS1 was/is and he experiences the misery he put me through and feels shamed!
