This being our first baby I don't know what bottles you mean, but we visited 2 local hospitals to scope them out and bth told us that we had to take our own bottles and formula of we weren't breast feeding as from this month they no longer provide any.

That's interesting thanks Wonder Womble. With DS2 I used those in hospital and they were so useful. I can't breastfeed as I never have any milk come in so need them. They used to give me a few for the night and left me to it. Must check with my hospital

OMG palpatations - im creeping up the list, everyone keeps telling me Elvis will be here before i know it and have only got 5 weeks left at work and am going to be losing all of my daily contact with friends and family and am finally making the complete move to be with OH

    and breathhhhhhhh

sorry, just had to let that out, i am fine and am totally ready for this but just had a complete oh sh!!te moment lol

Congrats on the new arrivals and the beautiful names you have chosen :) PP congrats on being a grandma again :)

We told the family together and were nervous, the last time we called and arranged to go over without telling them what we were going over for it was to tell them we were engaged, therefore they all assumed we were going to announce a baby :)

31 + 3 and i think Elvis has turned around so am hoping MW will tell me that we are head down and growing well - fingers crossed for Friday's appointment.

Hope everyone has a good sleep tonight and that all aches and pains are magically eased :)

What happens if you dont know if your milk is going to come in or not?

Im planning on breast feeding, but what if it doesnt happen? Will OH be sent home to get bottles and buy formula?

Just after a bit of advice really. When is everyone starting their maternity leave?
I would like to work as long as poss so was thinking off leaving mid/late November when i'll be 34/35 weeks.

    Congrats Anderson

Welcome Lauralou & congratulations! I started my maternity leave at 36 weeks - really couldn't have coped with working any longer as I was absolutely shattered all of the time and with the hot weather, no air conditioning and swollen feet it couldn't come a moment too soon. Bit bored now at 38 weeks but at least I can catch up on my rest and not have to worry when my nighttime insomnia strikes about getting up for work the next day.

Hi everyone. I've been making the most of two super sunny bank holidays over here. So glad I booked the next 2 days as holidays, I'm starting to think I could get used to not working. Less than 7 weeks till maternity starts :T Happy days.
    Gorgeous, gorgeous photo Supermaiden!!!
    And congratulAtions Anderson!!!
Lovely to hear the babies are doing well after less than straight-forward deliveries. Hope the mummy's are getting plenty of TLC.
Hello to the new mums-to-be. Congrats on the bumps!

Re: milk bottles in hospital, I heard they weren't allowed to use them incase it tempted mums into giving up breast feeding. My DD had a tongue tie, and couldn't breast feed properly, so I was helped to express tiny amounts of colostrum onto a tea spoon and fed her that way. Her tongue tie got cut the first day, but the damage to my nipples by them was severe, so I gave up on breastfeeding after a week. (The midwife asking if my nipples had fallen off yet, was the final straw) I hadn't a clue about bottles. Sent the OH out to buy some. He came back with little cartons of baby milk, bottles and a steriliser. The ready made cartons were great! I'd recommend them!

Labour vibes to everyone who needs them!!

  • I haven't even bought any formula as I was waiting to see what kind they give me at the hospital as they used to use SMA in 1994, 1996 & 1998.

Surely they must have some bottles there as i'm dammned if i'm going to be making up bottles before rushing off to hospital when i'm in labour.

thats what i thought, i mean, what about these mum to be who go in the hospital with nothing.....and i mean nothing, the labour ward must surely have something for them, i dont mind having to take my own, just dunno where to buy them! ive seen and used the cartons of sma milk but it's the tiny bottles already filled with milk that i'm after :)

Bother.. I forgot to cancel the MW coming Monday... I won't get time tomorrow we are meant to be trotting off to Ikea.. I REALLY don't want to go but I need to eye up beds.. so we are driving an hour there... and an hour back to WINDOW SHOP!!! lol... Though there are a few little bits I want anyway.. so we won't be coming back with an empty car.. but still... 2 hours round trip for some corner bumpers and a mirror is extreme!
