I'm astonished that an ex coucil house would be worth 300k!!!!!

South-East, commuter belt, in catchment area of one of 10 best (allegedly) secondary schools in the county.

I am with pinkcandyfloss, I also live in london commuter belt (OH is from here), we are planning on moving as soon as OH can get transferred with work, preferably back to scotland where we met. It is just ridiculously expensive here, and as potential first-time buyers we have no chance! Do you/your OH work in London OP? Is it essential you live in commuter territory?

You know what your problem is?

    Nothing at all.

You've got no problems at all, are you going to be
scared to put the heating on this winter?

Do you have to make a pound of mince make 8 servings?

Sorry but you're being like a spoilt child, realise how lucky you are to have what you've got and stop whinging about things that don't matter.

Have a break, you need one, spend some time relaxing in the grden or have a few days by the sea. Chill out and count your blessings.

depends on what area shegirl, I am ex council, and mine has just been valued by 3 different estate agents, and I am knocked for 6 by what its worth, I am still recovering from the shock.

To the OP, I can sympathise with you feeling tired, depressed and you have 2 jobs, but in all honesty, your OH is earning a fair wedge, you have savings, a good income from your first job, so how can you say you cant afford to buy or do what you want, many people would bite your arm to have what the financial income you have.

If your feeling drained cause of the 2 jobs, then either pack one in or cut down, you still have enough money coming in to manage, crikey, I have to sell my home cause I cant afford to pay the mortgage on my own (marriage break-up) on what I earn, so please do not take it wrong when I say to you, that your stress and tiredness is not cause of lack of money, its cause your doing too much.
You have a problem, the solution to the problem, is to get rid of the problem, simples, cut down on work.

We try to go easy on heating to save on bills (that's why I hate winter because I always feel cold). And I think nothing of buying a reduced pack of mince which I do like to bulk out with veg.

But you are right in every word.

Ex council 2 bed tower block flats can easily cost £300k if they are in the right area. :(

thats out of order. compared to people in africa who have no water to drink having to make 8 servings out of a pound of mince makes you sound like a spoilt child who doesnt know how lucky you have it. having more money than others doesnt mean you have no problems.

OP, you have lost sight of what you want out of life.

Either spend some money freeing up some time for yourself or dump one of the jobs.

How do you expect to function properly if you are working day and night and trying to bring up a family?

I thought if I work really hard I would have a good house, good education for the children, good car, good holidays, good clothes and the overall sense of accomplishment.

Now I am working two jobs and what I got is the ex-council house for 300K, my children go to average schools, I drive an old car, for holidays we go to visit our parents because we miss them and in the past 2 weeks I haven't had time to buy a pair of black shoes after both heels snapped on my last pair.

    Sense of accomplishment?
