An SOA is a statement of affiars, all incomes & outgoings & debts & APRs.

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Saint mighht know more but my understanding is that banks cant refuse to allow someone to open a basic account. Saint is this right?
Hiya Lynz. My understanding is that they can infact turn anyone away from any account, even basic accounts. The FSA has fallen short of enforcing banks to ensure they provide an account for everyone. The FSA from what I am aware have only made 'strong recommendations' that banks provide an account that caters for people with adverse credit etc.
So in reality, people still get turned away/declined for basic accounts. I also speak from experience as Nationwide turned be away a few moons ago from one of their basic accounts.
But I started a thread over in the Budgeting & Current Accounts form which has details of the majority of basic accounts available with tips and advice for those looking for that type of account. It's a sticky at the top.0 -
I applied for a citi bank account and they want me to make a £1 deposit with a cheque - not possible , so they can identify me. I'll call them see if they will accept any other form of identity.
Natwest Step Account - Applied
Halifax Esycash - Applied
If my bank manager offers me a loan to repay what I owe barclays should i agree or refuse and stick to my own payment plan which i can afford?0 -
Why have you applied for 3 new accounts? You only need one.0

Simon, you don't need a cheque to open a CitiBank account, you can provide an additional form of ID instead.0

No, you won't have done any further harm to your credit file in reality. You will have 3 credit searches on file recently and thats about it.
Bank accounts with no credit facilities wont show up on your credit file so you will be ok from that point of view too.0 -
How do i phrase my letter to hsbc with regard to the default notice they put on my account 4 years + plus ago , is their a template letter i can copy?
i just need to ask them to mark it as settled0 -
Have you first checked your credit file yet to see if it isn't actually already marked as settled?0
