i will put together all my expenses and should have then up for you guys by tomorrow, thank you , can you also provide me with the draft letter for the bank?sanfrancisco wrote:Great advice. Follow it.
If you post your income and outgoings here we will be able to tell you whether your bank will accept the amounts. There are many people on here who have vast experience and will say, "put more for food", "less for car" etc etc. How much per month do you think you can pay them?0 -
There we are. you see. we may all be strangers to each other, but where else could you get this advice without moving out of your house. lovely. nice and warm chilled out, no face to face confrontation and its all free. how darn good is that. am going to put my crimbo tree up now. Its so good having hundreds of people in my house at the same time. god knows how they all squeeze into this little laptop of mine. Must be cosy in there. Merry christmas to you all. To my knowledge i paid HSBC off a years ago. I have not had any letters from them but their note is still there can anything be done about that? I have had TERMINATION notice from Barclays. So I would like to write to both institutions:sgx.saint wrote:Sure. I will post it shortly. Unless someone beats me to it :P

a)HSBC to ask if they can ammend the note that I paid them as its affecting my credit I understand they have to keep it there for 6 years? Thats what the woman in HSBC told me today.
b)I would like to respond to the Barclays termination notice informing them that my salary will be going elsewhere and that I can only pay them £100 pcm or less until the ammount i owe them is settled, bearing in mind that this ammount is made up of dodgy charges since i was not ever informed that my overdraft had been removed.0 -
I wasn't sure if I could mention banks names on hear for fear of persecution, but anyway I had a Barclays Graduate account and i graduated 3 months ago , my salary has been going into the account since i started working but the account had been inactive 7 months prior when i was studying. All of a sudden they have turned the tables on me and cancelled my overdraft yesterday
I had the same kind of thing from natwest, I'd (foolishly) opened an account with an overdraft and taken all the cash out, they sent me a letter saying I had a month to repay etc, I sent them a letter saying I couldn't physically pay them back but I could manage about £5 a week, which they accepted.
Interestingly, when I informed them that I was still a student and not infact a graduate yet they forgot all about me paying them back.. hmm!0 -

So you owed HSBC a debt sometime ago, and paid it in full? .... If this is the case then the chances are that you may have been issued a Default Notice. If this is the case, the only thing you can really do is make sure that HSBC have marked the debt as 'settled'. It won't make a massive improvement to your credit history, but it's certainly a start.b)I would like to respond to the Barclays termination notice informing them that my salary will be going elsewhere and that I can only pay them £100 pcm or less until the ammount i owe them is settled, bearing in mind that this ammount is made up of dodgy charges since i was not ever informed that my overdraft had been removed.
I would firstly as I said make sure you have another account opened asap. Then I would send a letter stating your offered repayment amount. Then thirdly, once you have a repayment scheduled agreed, this is the time to start your pursuit of reclaimed bank charges.
I will write you a template letter if you like for the repayment offer. You need to complete an income and expenditure document though to forward along with your letter.
Use this one:-
