So you owed HSBC a debt sometime ago, and paid it in full? .... If this is the case then the chances are that you may have been issued a Default Notice. If this is the case, the only thing you can really do is make sure that HSBC have marked the debt as 'settled'. It won't make a massive improvement to your credit history, but it's certainly a start.

I would firstly as I said make sure you have another account opened asap. Then I would send a letter stating your offered repayment amount. Then thirdly, once you have a repayment scheduled agreed, this is the time to start your pursuit of reclaimed bank charges.

I will write you a template letter if you like for the repayment offer. You need to complete an income and expenditure document though to forward along with your letter.

    Use this one:-

Whatever you have left over each month you should offer to your creditors.
yes i need them to mark it as settled hsbc that is, i will complete the sheet for you guys to help
  • Hi chicks. Tree up looks fantastic if i say so myself. simon3000. It sounds likeyou are now taking stock and making use of the advice here. your tone and mood appears to have lifted somewhat to your first half a dozen postings. keep at it kid. take the advice and the support.

simon3000 is online now Report Bad Post

Your bank manager actually said that?

I would file a full and formal complaint to Barclays head office. What he/she said is in breach of the FSA rules, The Administration of Justice Act 1970 and probably much more ......

If you don't get any satisfaction from them, you can of course take it further. That is shocking if a senior banking professional actually said that.
  • i have sent an email to the financial ombudsman and i recorded the phone conversation with him but someone said its inadmissable in court ,

Yes, I think that is the case, but I'm not a legal expert. Think it has something to do with not having the other parties permission.

I'm glad you reported it though.

Nat West do a "Steps" current account. No credit checks and it's very basic, but you do get a debit card and you can pay direct debits through it and have wages paid in.

After a while, if you've managed the account ok, they usually offer to upgrade you to a normal account.

Might be worth a punt and doesn't take long to open - just make sure you take the ID that all banks need.

    Lin :)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

    No credit checks

Just for a point of reference, a credit check does still take place, but this is only to confirm your ID and status :)

you dont need to apply for 3 seperate accounts. One is fine. Each of the accounts are those that people have recommended. Personally, Id look for the one closest to my house and make a decision from there.

Saint mighht know more but my understanding is that banks cant refuse to allow someone to open a basic account. Saint is this right?

Once you have done your SOA we can help more ;)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • What is SOA? I mean't that today I am going to apply online to all the banks you guys have mentioned and obviously some will say yes and some will say no, but my crf is going to show that i have applied for a baisic bank account with x ammount of banks on sunday xx etc , i guess i am worrying about nothing what else do i have to loose...
