these are offers displayed in internet banking and are an indication of the health of the account - it wouldn't suit me if the bank is unwilling to offer any credit products on the basis of my account conduct

Neither of you have a chequebook on your account - does that suit you too ?

It's kind of my own fault in the first place, I got a few defaults a few years ago and of course since this found it difficult if not inpossible to get any credit from anyone.

To be honest though, it made me think - Do I really need any credit? One day I did have a think and thought 'Why should I keep paying the banks more money back for borrowing?' and ever since I have decided if I don't have the money in the first place, don't get into debt ever again.. And so far have stuck to this.

For my own protection, I managed to get a Capital One Classic Credit Card for Section 75 coverage but all I do is send the payment each and everytime I use the card.

In a way I am kind of glad that I do have the CPD Marker on my account as it means they do not bug me at all for reviews as someone else has said.

Even when the defaults pop off my Credit File, I am just going to say no to credit as such.

OK a Cheque Book would be nice handy thing, but doubt it would get much use these days - I am just happy with the Offline Debit Card.

Also, a nice Reward Credit Card would be good I guess - to at least get something back but again, my mind has changed a lot since.

I used to be one of these people that thought by having X Y Z Credit Card I would be more far superior that someone else without it, but now as long as it works I don't care one bit.

No longer will the banks be making money from me in interest - Means that money can be spent by me and not the bank.

Getting into debt was nothing but my own fault, I put my hands up to that.. But how stupid because i'm still paying it off now and will be for another few years to come. How silly was I in the first place? Should have just said no!

£1 of debt is too much for me!

    Doesn't bother me.

I write a cheque once a month for nursery fees from my otherwise-unused Nationwide FlexAccount and I FP the money in from my LTSB account the same day. Job done.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

What do you mean by closure?

No LTSB branch is earmarked for closure but some will be sold off

    OK. Technically accurate point.

But in answer to your follow-up question, the situation will be that the account is no longer held by LTSB but by a bank the identity of which is currently unknown.

    Unlike "branch closures".

No, every bank and credit company will be internally monitoring your account it just seems that Lloyds displays this to their staff. As far as I know with other banks this is kept secret until you tip it far enough to get a letter saying they're closing your account.

I've just tried to upgrade my account online for Lloyds, it said that we are unable to upgrade your account online please call....

Is this a website error with anyone else?

Also does having an account which you pay monthly for, eg a silver account, give you 'better' credit? Or is the only benefits the actual benefits that the account give?

Well a while ago I had this message and rang the contact centre and said I was able to have any upgrade to the top paying account.

Despite of what some posters say on here in my case I could have easily gone from Classic account(by choice I have this) to the top account.

Also I have just checked online and all the upgrade buttons are in a bright green so seems to be working ok.

Not sure it improves your credit standing with the bank by having a paying account. I use to have the Gold account but for me was just a waste of monies and decided on Classic account.

Even though I have that account I managed to get a £10k overdraft facility.
Very useful for the small emergency.

Head of security in £2.5m Lloyds fraud charge
A former head of security at Lloyds Bank has been charged in connection with an alleged £2.5m fraud.

Jessica Harper is accused of submitting false invoices to claim payments, between September 2008 and December 2011.

At the time she was working as head of fraud and security for digital banking and allegedly made false claims totalling £2,463,750.

Ms Harper will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 31 May.

She has been charged with one count of fraud by abuse of position.

If that the case it would mean you are not able to upgrade to another account.
