I think i've 3 or 4 friends who's car has been "hit n run" in this manner...... So fair play for stopping and being honest about it.
As for injuries, I don't think they have a claim unless its a rear end shunt.
What annoys me about injury claims is that the insurance companies claim it's why our premiums go up, yet it's THEM who send your details to these vultures when you have an accident!!!
Just like I see people do on lots of occasions and then when they come back with their trolley they push it between the cars to access their boot and knock the trolly in to the car next to them.
And parking in 2 spaces is selfish however busy the car park is
OP lets hope your insurance doesnt pay out0 -
Not a good idea to contact the third party's partner! (You know they are "on the ball" when it comes to "getting their rights", and you "harassing" them could play into their hands)
Leave it to your insurer to deal with.0 -

To be honest, if someone rear end shunts you, then I know a lot of people will claim for whiplash and theres not a lot the insurance companies can do to say otherwise.
But, to claim it when the accident was extremely low speed, minor side bump is pushing your luck a bit. Also, allied to the fact that there may be CCTV evidence.
To be honest, I hope the other claimant gets into real trouble for making up such a stupid claim....0 -

Yeh. Was bad idea. Wont do it again. I just informed him that it was being investigated.
Hope its got them worried now...0 -

Yesterday I was parked in a field, not another car within 25 yards
apart from the man who was parked about 15ft in front of me.
He still managed to back into my bumper and do nearly £700 worth of damage, I wasnt in the car but he was good enough to wait and give me his detais. This is the third time in 18 month Ive had to report things to my ins. company, and I havent even been in the car:eek:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Make it very clear to your insurance company that this is a fraudulent claim. I would also contact the insurance industry ombudsman just to keep them in the picture about this suspected fraud.
As someone else said, it is because of people like this that our insurance premiums are so expensive.
Insurance companies are far too keen to pass details on to claims companies. There was a feature on Watchdog about this recently. Both the insurance company and the claims company make money out of these claims. Only this morning I received a text message saying that I still had time to claim for injuries. And I haven't even been in an accident.

An employee of mine was hit from behind, and did actually sustain neck injuries, for which he still needs physio. But what surprised me was that within 10 mins of reporting the accident, and giving the insurance company all the details, a claims company called me saying that I could claim for injuries (I was 100 miles away at the time).
Then months later I was contacted by a personal injury claim company who said that they had received my details from the other party's insurance company. And they wanted to know if I wanted to claim. Obviously I had a right go at them for putting insurance premiums up, and polietly told them where to go.0 -
The Ombudsman isn't going to do anything, they are there if you have complaint about the insurance company.
TBH, if your ins company decide to pay out, there's very little you can do about it. At this moment in time all you can do is advise them of the facts, and only the facts. They don't want your opinion or thoughts on whether it's fraud or not, or how the other party is "clearly faking it", because they have to make their own minds up based on the evidence provided by both parties.
Just tell the truth and hope they catch them out.0 -
Would the insurance ombudsman be interested in this?
I know I've got to take a hit with the accident being my fault but I'd rather have a £500 car park prang on my record rather than a £3K one where I injured someone. I'm just hoping my insurance company fight it and dont just decide to cough up because its too much hassle.
I'm hoping that the fact they've got this company Brownsword involved that they do plan to investigate.
BTW. Contacted them and the guy is coming to see me on Wednesday evening to take a statement.0 -

Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
Its a disgrace no wonder insurance premiums are up 40% in a year.It would be better if these no win no fee companies were banned. They are just as bad as the ambulance chasers in america and the ordinary motorist has to shell out.I only hope they do get done for fraud.counting down the time I got left.:beer:0
