Nudged someones car in car park - now they're claiming they were injured !

OMG. I've heard it all now.

Reversed out of space in Tescos the other day and nudged the car next to me. No damage to mine but small dent in her door. She was sitting in the car at the time.

Gave her my insurance details.

Didnt hear anything then my insurance phoned me to tell me she was claiming she was injured in the accident. OMG - I was reversing at like 1 mph !!!

Good news is that another company has contacted me for a statement on behalf of my insurers. Seems to be a claims investigation company called Brownsword.

Anyway, only number I had was her partners business card. Phoned him to see what was going on (probably not a good idea) and he swears blind that his partner was hurt and he got a bit shirty with me.

Hope the !!!!!! goes to jail for fraud.

Blimey I got hit by a cement mixing wagon, maybe I could have claimed injuries, ;):D

Yep. As I reversed out of the space, I turned the wheel too early and front corner of my bumper nudged the passenger door. Like I said, just a scratch on my bumper and a small dent on her door.

Not sure if shes claiming whiplash or what? For a small sideways bump. To be honest, you'd get shaken 20 times more going over a speedbump.

I'm hoping tesco express in question have got cctv cameras and this company get hold of them because they'll see the impact and her walking around afterwards.

Why don't you go to the Tescos in question and ask them for

1). a copy of the relevant tape

2). to save a copy because they don't save then forever, they get taped over.

This is EXACTLY why I park at the other side of the car park and (if car park isn't busy) over 2 spaces.
It's also EXACTLY why you should always reverse park :(

I think i've 3 or 4 friends who's car has been "hit n run" in this manner...... So fair play for stopping and being honest about it.

As for injuries, I don't think they have a claim unless its a rear end shunt.

What annoys me about injury claims is that the insurance companies claim it's why our premiums go up, yet it's THEM who send your details to these vultures when you have an accident!!!

Yeh. I should have. Not sure if a photo of the occupant would have made much difference though. It seems shes claiming whiplash.

Its highly unlikey tesco will hand over a CCTV tape but it would be worth getting there contact details ASAP and giving them to the insurer because as Dippypud said they dont keep them forever
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

Thing its a Tesco express with only about 10 spaces.

She was in the car when I clipped it. To be honest, she was OK about it at the time, no problems etc. I think whats happened is shes got home and her partner can see £ signs.....

Surely they can tell from the dent what sort of impact it is and roughly at what speed?
