Hiya!
Sorry! feeling a poo as of late, unsure why!
The bf says that the language is dead and I shouldn't worry about trying to learn it but to me it's vital that I learn it so I will know what people are saying and IF we have kids I want them to be dual nationality kids and be able to speak fluent dutch to his grandparents etc
Trying to think of a new job but I haven't a clue where to startneed more money! (who doesn't?!)
Hope you're ok rags

Quick look on google and you might find free stuff to help with the language. If it's like the german language you should be able to pick it up quickly. Does his family speak English? Love the idea of future rugrats speaking both languages though..........December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

I have the Rosetta stone package for Dutch but no laptop to use it on as I only have my iPad now so would have to use the bfs. I have a few simple apps for Dutch but need full phrases and pronunciation if I am going to learn it well. I think I just need to save a little and get myself a laptop!
His family speak some English and I generally understand what they're trying to say but feel like I do know them and they don't really know me until I speak their language, just feel a bit ignorant
The kids definitely need to speak both because it's horrid sitting in a room where everyone is talking and you don't understand a word. This was me yesterday, everyone is laughing and joking and I'm just sat there like a lemon no laughing at stuff and looking generally bewildered!

Well done on the weight loss :j I weighed myself this morning and had put on 1lb, but then there has been large amounts of alcohol drunk this weekend so hopefully its just temporary.
Keep your chin up, the feeling down will pass soon I'm sure. Register with an agency and they will help you find a new job, at least you still are working so its not as desperate as it could be.

Hi sparkerly
Sounds like you had a super time over the weekend! Nevermind for the weight gain, you deserve the celebration!
I will register with some agencies and see what they suggest, there's plenty in my area. I sound like a spoilt brat when I say I want a new job because this one doesn't pay enough don't I? I am very grateful for having a job and even though it's not much it's ok for now. I guess it doesn't help when your partner is on £20k more than you and you feel a bit worthless... Told his dad how much I currently earn last night, he couldn't believe it, said it was nothing and I should be on more (wages are high in Holland) it will happen though, just need to be brave and apply for some things!
Good luck at your first day tomorrow Sparkerly, hope today went well too! XxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -

I don't think you sound like a spoilt brat. I think that you have to be happy at work and part of that is to feel that you are being paid adequately for the work you do. So if you don't feel you are you are not going to be happy so you should look for something else. Obviously I'm not sure whether your salary is good for your area so only you can say if you feel you are being paid what you are worth, as the salaries in Jersey are absolutely ridiculously high which means the costs of goods are much higher than the UK.
One thing I have learnt over the years is that there is no point in comparing your wages to your OH. I used to do that but when his salary increased significantly so I wasn't even on a third of his wage it really got to me. I didn't deserve the same money as him as his job was more senior than mine, but it still got to me. I knew that I was earning well for what I did and learnt to concentrate on that.
Really excited about tomorrow, although feeling rather nervous as well having not work in an office for so long so my main concern is whether I can actually stay awake all day as my sleeping habits have got so bad that I have been known to have an afternoon nap before the kids get home - that makes me sound like I'm getting old :rotfl:June £25 a day 850.94/750

Hi Rdchick :j
i didn't realise you had your own diary! So just had a quick read throughwhat a lovely pic of your grandad....my nan died last month and it sounds the same as your grandad...she had been with my grandad for the best part of 50 years and when he passed she became so withdrawn, depressed and gave up on everything. SO sad
!
Love the pic of you both feeding the baby though :rotfl:that made me giggle!
As for bf not wanting to marry you.....i have a nearly 13 yr old with DH and we were engaged for years before breaking it off......4 years down the line we got back together and i didn't want to marry him :rotfl:and one day he came back from the shop and told me we were getting married in 6 weeks and i had best sort it all out  wouldn't mind i was in the middle of a degree (exam time too) and was sooooooooo sick as was pregnant with DD...anyway what i meant to say before rambling lol was that men are a law unto themselves. They never seem to want what you want until you take the option away if you see what i mean lol. so don't worry i'm sure it will happen
Bad news on the promotion, but i guess in the current climate everyone is watching penniessucks for you though!
Anyway I will subscribe to your diary (and i apologise for my rambling you should see the posts on my diary lol they go on forever sometimes...and about nothing in particular :rotfl:)
