Hi, another lurker for you, one of your other posts made me smile so I thought I'd check out your diary. Sounds like you've got a great attitude, I'm going to keep reading in the hope that some of it rubs off! Was debt free but it's creeping back up, so I'm looking for tips across the forum to stave off major debtdom!

Hello!! welcome to the [strike]asylum[/strike] diary!

I guess I have a carefree attitude to most things, two things worry me - health and money - that's it and now-a-days it's just health as the pennies are looking after themselves! Not going to lie, it's scary, hard and boring but becoming debt free is something I am desperate to achieve.

Well done for becoming debt free though Bobble! I've heard that it's just as hard to stay debt free though!!

I have just applied for a basic bank account with Barclays - so far so good - no alarms sounded when I pressed send and they haven't come back with a massive NO! So that's something...I didn't apply for an overdraft and I am still nervous... there's no reason why they shouldn't give me an account... or is there?!

What a lovely picture Rdchick :o.

I lost my granddad when I was 8. My dad didn't get on with his parents so I have only ever had one set of grandparents. Luckily my gran is still alive and going strong at 91. Love her to bits.

I'm always sad on Father's day as my dad died when I was 24 (at the young age of 60) so I understand why your mum put that photo on. The only thing I can do for my dad is put flowers on his grave :(

Oh Emz that's sad - I'm sorry to hear that :( I will be going up the cemetary on Sunday, he should have a new joint headstone with my nanny soon which will be nice - he basically died of a broken heart because he wanted nothing more than to be with my nan again (She died of Cancer back in 2005 - he then went from being a healthy man to a man crippled with Parkinsons and cancer :()

Just gotta appreciate every day that we have - because it can easily be taken away at any time - we have one life - live it (not fearing the bailiffs!)

    Lots of Love

    xxxx

Thanks :A - that is so sad about your granddad. I think that happens very often, especially with men who lose their partners who they have been with for so long.

My dad was ill for quite a while and he was in a lot of pain when he died. My baby nephew died 5 days before him (aged just 18 days) and he said he had to go and look after him. My dad's ashes are in my nephew's coffin so we have a place to go and see them any time we want.

Sorry, didn't mean to make your thread a sad place. And just to brighten it up a bit, I now have a beautiful 4-year-old niece and my sister is expecting again (due in September). You are right that life is precious. :o
