I bought a huge punnet(?) of value mushrooms 2 weeks ago and they have now all started to get very close to needing throwing, what can I make with them?

Did think mushroom soup but wondered if anyone else had any tried and tested mushroom recipes

    Thankyou:D

Hi, i have made the mushroom soup that is listed in the recipe collection. However i can't remember the actual recipe. If you go to the Old style collection. click on the soup ones you should find it there. Perhaphs some one will be able to help you, find it if my rambling is of no help to you. I will say that the soup was lovely.

    Hi razra,

There's an older thread with lots of ideas for using up mushrooms that should help, so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Don't forget that they freeze well if you want to keep them for adding to recipes later.

I think that this is the mushroom soup recipe demented was referring to.

    Or there's this one. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

When I buy a load of mushrooms reduced I just pop the packs in the freezer. You couldn't really use them raw when they come out butthey are fine for cooking.

Recently we've been lucky to have a large supply of mushrooms from a nearby field where we walk our dog.

Each morning we have been collecting them, having mushroom omlettes, chicken and mushroom pies, egg and mushroom quiche, beef and mushroom casserole, stuffed mushrooms, mushrooms with cheese and toms grilled on top...etc..etc..
    We're becoming mushroomed out ;)

This may be a really daft question, but I'm going to ask anyway.
Can you freeze mushrooms?...or how do you dry them?
Or any other ideas of what we can do with them?

It seems such a shame to leave these huge mushrooms just for the cows to trample on :(

Hi MrBE!! Long time no see:D

No cooking threads lately, are you just too experienced and able to need help now?;) ( I hope you haven't given up the cooking:p )
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
  • would have thought if you cooked them through then froze them in useful amounts they would be fine.i often freeze things with mushrooms in and they are ok.
    Lead us not into temptation...

just tell us where it is and we'll find it....
