iPhone 3GS or Android Phone

With respect, working in a sales role for a phone company doesn't place you with the expert view.
Apps mean nothing to how good an OS is and in any case, Android and Apple have the same more or less. You may also find that Android is out selling iOS in huge numbers and year on year growth is out selling iOS.
Apple set the stage with the first phone, now they are behind in many ways.
I never meant to come across that I am an expert, merely stating what is my opinion in selling to the public. Of course Android is growing aster, there are many more handsets avaliable with the os on, however there is not one single handset that can compete with the Iphone 4 in reference to sales figures.0 -
When I sell android phones there are always problems with them in some shape or form. Iphones imo are the most reliable handsets on the market today. Im constantly reading bout malware issues because of androids open source software and there are also too many handsets which support different versions of android and so some apps are incompatible.
But that to me is the problem with the iPhone (and Apple products in general) it's a one size fits all - "we control everything and we dictate what you can and cannot have on your device". I'm willing to put up with compatibility issues for the sake of being able to choose between a cheap, low end product and an expensive high-end product. If the carriers didn't customise the phones so much there would be far less issues, the hardware / OS isn't the problem it's carrier branding of the OS that causes most of the issues. Root any Android phone and stick on a vanilla Android OS release and you suddenly get less problems.
Idiophreak - I'm on Android 2.3 and have not had any of those issues. I don't even remember having problems on 2.2 either but only had that for a few months before I got the upgrade. iPhone 4 fixed the "incorrect signal reporting" in their last release (4.3?) or maybe it was a little earlier than that... can't remember.
Swype is great but it's only a beta and can't be downloaded through the usual Android market (only Galaxy S2's come with Swype installed - as far as I am aware). That's another thing, being able to download for alternative sources is a huge plus - as long as you are sure of what you are getting. Personally even with Swype I still prefer a physical keyboard, but they only do a Desire Z no Desire HD Z.Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -

I will be surprised if a single Android handset will be abortion to out sell the iPhone. as you rightfully put it, there are so many handset that are running android, therefore, if you want to compare sales, you should be comparing OS rather than handset. if I remember correctly, the latest figure showed that Android was the best selling OS. Not the most widely used yet as it tapped into through market later than ios, but is catching up fast....
on another note, ice cream sandwich is due to launch when ios 5 is. if what ios is doing now is merely catching up with what android or other platforms has been providing, the new release will be even better. Google is making arrangements with providers to make the updates available to users of different handset as soon as when its available. The battle of mobile OS intensify....0 -

Apple is like the BMW of the mobile phone world & Android is Vauxhall
BMW is certainly not to everyone's taste, just like Apple. But BMW makes brilliant cars that do what the person buying or driving it wants it to do & a majority of BMW owners do not care what other drivers think of them.
Whereas with Vauxhall - they make good cars some of which look great & on the whole they are fairly reliable, with one or two exceptions. They think they are better than everyone else & Vauxhall owners try & convince everyone else that their car is the best & so much better than a BMW.
BTW - I don't drive either of these makes
My point is that everyone has their own opinion of which is best. I currently have an iPhone 4 but that doesn't mean I would never consider an Android or any other OS. I will choose whatever suits me best at the time. I have nothing against any of the smartphone manufacturers, unlike some

Apple Market their products better that's all there is to it. If you look at their last OS release what have they got in there that came from other OS? Drop down notification etc. Apple are now playing catch up with everyone else even more than what they had been doing before.
I have an iphone 4 and my OH used to have a Nexus One running Android 2.3.3....she's now sold it and got a 3GS instead which she's more happier with. I can tell you that iOS far, far more slick than Android. For example to delete an app in iOS, you just hold down on the app and click on X...takes about 2 seconds whereas on Android you have to go into user menus and select "uninstall program".
As for apps, when you buy a smartphone you mainly buy it for apps...if you want purely a phone then you don't pay a few hundred pounds for it...you just buy a £20 bog standard phoneSome people keep going on about apps. What can you have app wise on Apple that you can't on Android?

Fully functional Skype (on Android Skype you can't send SMS)

Samsung Galaxy S II is a way better option than the 3GS. Performance wise SII is better and since android is an open platform it has way more apps and scope for upgradation. This post provides guidance only. It does not constitute financial advice0

Complete nonsense takes about 4 seconds to remove Android app maximum and its not via your supposed method .

You may not want apps such as My Vodafone, First Direct, fully functional Skype etc but i can assure you many people who are customers of these companies would love to have these on their Android handset. Even a popular app such as Tvguide (which beats the pants of Sky+ app) only came on the Android market recently after being on the Apple store for ages.
The point i'm trying to make is that often developers make smartphone apps for the Apple store first (i'm talking about useful apps here), apps for the Android platform are given a lower priority...often they come out months/years later (if ever).0
