any firmware updates for this player ?0

Is there anything cheap I can plug into the USB port that would let me watch files on a remote server? I mean I already have the wireless LAN it would be nice if I could watch stuff directly off one of the PCs instead of having to copy onto flash memory then unplug and walk it over to the player.
Not sure that would work since such a usb device would require that its drivers be installed on the DVD player.
If your compter's graphic card has a Video-Out port then you could buy a video sender. I use an old Philips SBC VL1200 sender with an old ATI AIW graphic card (includes a wireless wonder remote that works through walls and ceilings) and can watch/listen to any video/music format that my computer can play, all on my widescreen TV downstairs. Image quailty isn't great, but it's plenty good enough for the sort of vids I download from the internet. The added bonus is that with my other wireless hardware ( mouse/keyboard/joystick) I can play games and surf the net.0 -
Mine doesn't play the XviD files produced by my Samsung camera. Starts but freezes after a few seconds. Shame, because the initial quality is brilliant.0

Haven't got as far as DivX etc yet - still seeing if I want to keep it for regular DVD playing - and on that score I'm not happy.
I have found that the video on DVDs (both commercial and DVD+RW from my Sony DVD recorder) 'stutters' occasionally (maybe once a minute) often just before or just after a scene change. I exchanged my first machine for another but this one is much the same.
Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? It makes me think that the machine is trying to re-sync the video and skips back or forward a few frames.
I also feel that the colours are a little over-saturated (at least via component) but there's no control over that.
On the plus side, I like the connectivity and the nice shiny manual.
The audio quality seems quite good too - pity it doesn't 'do' flac and ogg.
Is there a Lidl/Silvercrest support site when one can download firmware updates?

I don't know how much use this will be to you, there does not appear to be any firmware for this player at present.

Sounds like a lot of you guys actually need a chipped Xbox V1 with XBMC on it connected to your LAN !0

Same here, playback stutters on dvd and xvid files ( once every 10-20 mins ) annoying and not good enough, as the xbox media player plays flawless.0 -
What capabilities does this give you ??? I have a xbox and was thinking of softmoding it. Is this what you have done or have you chipped it?Mecoconuts wrote: »Sounds like a lot of you guys actually need a chipped Xbox V1 with XBMC on it connected to your LAN !0

I had my silverscreen 6510 dvd player start to stutter occasionally on certain dvds after about 3 months of buying it .Then things got progressivly worse over the next 3 months until nearly every disc would come up with "bad disc" or if the disc loaded it would start stuttering staraight away. I took it back to lidl with the reciept, told them it was faulty and exchanged it for the silverscreen 6506 model (the divx player without the usb socket). so far I havnt had any stuttering problems with this one although I do occasionally get a sound like a belt slipping when I skip forwards/back chapters and I seem to have more divx files that wont play or sometimes play without sound (cant be sure whether this is more non standard divx files causing this or whether this is the player) . I think the quality control is not that great on these players and whether you get a good or bad one is the luck of the draw.0
