"I ...going component so I can get a progressive signal."
Hi I'm not very technical. Just bought 2 of these players. They seem OK. Will use a scart for my connection.
What does "progressive " mean please? And "going component? Is there a better way of setting it up? Thanks in advance.0 -
masterwai - You will definitely loose the data. I think windows could upgrade to NTFS which was not destructive but not the other way around. Partition magic might be able to do it non destructive but it will be very risky.
compmad1 - If you don't know about progressive and interlaced signals then you don't need to 'go component' RGB scart is a very good signal and if your tele has a RGB SCART input the display will be very good.
SCART is just the type of plug. A signal that is progressive displays every line on the TV every time a picture is put there. But SCART can't normally carry this signal (AV gurus - I know this isn't strictly true), it usually only carries an interlaced signal, which is one where half the lines are displayed on the screen when a picture is put there.
Normally you won't see any difference at all because the picture is put on the screen too fast for you to notice, just plug in the SCART and away you go.No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -

progressive uses the three connections RGB (Red, Green, Blue) on the back of the DVD player (labelled something like YPbPr or YCbCr) and you need a component cable and ofcourse a tv such as an LCD with the component (progressive) input.
Other ways to connect are Scart (usually best set to RGB in the equipment menu) HDMI and composite.0 -
Hi guys,
those of you experiencing problems with USB sticks - are you using USB2 compliant sticks??....I found that the older cheaper USB1 sticks don't work very well, if at all.
External drives need to be FAT32 formatted for the player to recognise them. NTFS will not work.
It does what it says on the tin :rotfl:Chupke Chupke - the only way0 -
Plenty still available this afternoon in the Eastleigh branch. Hope this helps someone.
Out of interest, does this player scale up DivX movies to fit the screen ? I ask because i have a Samsung 5.1 Cinema DVD System which supports DivX but most of the DivX movies have to be zoomed to fit my Samsung 40" LCD TV, and even then it sometimes still leaves a black margin all around. Ordinary DVDs play perfectly.0 -

This player really suprised me because I bought a 4Gb Sd card from 7dayshop, that worked fine for a while (on the PC) then all of a sudden, non of my card readers would read it and I couldn't get my important data off it....so, I tried it in this dvd player and WOW! It read it.
Obviously, it can't read the (non video/photo) data that I want, but it does give me hope that maybe someone can suggest a card reader I can buy that will read this 4Gb Sd card.
Any ideas ? Maybe one of those new SDHC readers might do the job ?
As for this Silvercrest dvd player.....AWESOME.0 -

did you try the auto-fit setting in the Silvercrest menu?
BTW if you download gspot it will tell you the resolution of the avi (divx etc) file0
