i suppose the fuss is that it is a freeview, dvd player, digital radio, card reader all for under a hundred quid and would look nice in a small kitchen

Where'd you get freeview from? lol. It definately doesn't have freeview.
  • How do we know this is in Lidl from April the 4th? There's no mention on their website... Sorry, not doubting anyone here, just making sure it's not a wasted journey!

I got a flier from them last week, It's a specific Lidl Cymru (Wales) edition so I don't know if there available anywhere else, I'm in Cardiff FYI
It says it's in store from April 5th not 4th, Looking at it now.
Edit P.S. I just checked the website and it is available within my postcode.

    See here
    http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20070405.index.ar5?OpenDocument&id=775&country=GB&zipcode=CF24+5EH&city=Cardiff&city2=Cathays&street=Maindy+Road&ar=5&nf=True

Might be a good idea to check locally.

I got one of these players from Lidl in Dec last year.

So far it has played everything I've thrown at it....

Point to note - this has a USB 2 slot, most of the other players out there only have USB 1 which is a lot slower and causes stuttering during playback.

After buying this player I bought a 4Gb USB2 mem stick for about £20 and haven't wasted any further disks or more importantly "TIME" buring disks.

I would highly recommend this player if you do download content from the internet.

I've taken stuff back to Lidl with NO problems in the past.

BTW - I have connected an external 160GB USB drive to this, takes a bit of time to scan all the files on the drive, but eventually it did show up on the browser, enabling me to select a video file and play it.

    :j
Chupke Chupke - the only way ;)

SPV are doing a great deal on a 160Gb USB external harddrive.
Is it possible to format this 160GB harddrive to FAT32 and view divx video via USB on this dvd player ?
  • I bought one of these last year. However I noticed that it wouldn't read several DVD's. Allthought those same DVD's are being read by my portable player.

Can anyone shed some light ? Is this just bad luck I had with this player or does this player have problems with certain codecs and or DVD's ?

Is it possible to hook up an ext drive to the USB port to play Windows Media Video files?
If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying :D
