The whole point of SP exercise is to hoick prices so high that everyone is forced to move tariffs.
When your current tariff is raised 30 odd %, yet they have other tariffs you can move onto for a 12% rise.
Of course their main purpose is to frighten people onto capped/fixed tariffs. (and MSE is not helping by saying exactly the same thing).
It`s not just confined to SP
they`re all "at it".0 -

Still waiting for my e-mail..........anyone else?
Only got mine last Saturday
they have to give you 30 days notice
so shouldn`t be long.
Tried to phone them yesterday and got a message saying the wait time was between 1 hour - 39 mins and 2 hours - 44 mins.
I can see they were well prepared for the chaos that would follow a massive price rise.0 -
Strange that,i phoned at 2pm and got through in 25 mins,on the freephone no.Couldn't imagine having to wait 2 hours though, that would drive me mad,and in any case it isn't free after an hour!(or is that only numbers you normally pay for but get free at certain times?)0

I finally received the email after lunch yesterday and gave them a call. The first time I called their system told me that it was between 1h55m and 2h30m for a callback so I opted to hold thinking the queue would be shorter but it wasn't so hung up and redialed to give me the option to get a callback. Strangely I then got straight through with no holding at all!!!!! Well I've rejected the price rise and they will not be charging me an exit fee for leaving to go to another company.0

Hello I'm on the above tariff and I got extended in Dec 2010 until 2011. I've just got the price increase email but I'm not clear whether I am able to switch now or if I have to wait until Dec 2011. Is anyone else on the same tariff? Thanks0

Initiated the switch from OES12 to NPower Go Fix 6 using simply switch on Saturday. This morning I recieved an email from NPower asking me to setup my online account - pleasantly suprised as I expected them to take a lot longer to start actioning the switch!
So straight onto the phone to SP to inform them I was rejecting the price rise and switching supplier. The waiting time appeared to be in excess of an hour so I opted for a callback which came at the promised time. SP have now indicated on my account that I have rejected the price rise and I will not have to pay the cancellation fee - this is why you need to contact them as otherwise they might try to charge if you simply switch away! The woman I spoke to did offer to go through the SP alternatives but when I informed her I'd done all the research and with cash back would be getting a fix for approximately the same price as OES14 she quickly realised that there was nothing she could do. All quite painless really!0 -
I got fed up being on hold for 30 minutes so I emailed them and got a response in 36 hours I guess... I have now emailed back confirming that I want to cancel, they did try and offer me other tariffs but I declined.0

I`m on OES 12 and have just done (yet again) another search on energyhelpline.
My best switch is to OES 14 with a saving of £189
Whereas a switch to Npower Go Fix 6 is way down the list with a saving of just £40
Something doesn`t add up somewhere and there are at least 4 fixed tariffs with better savings than Go Fix 6.
1 from EDF fixed saver V2
1 from Ovo New energy fixed
2 from SP Capped energy 2013 NSC and with a Standing Charge
So how going from OES12 to Go Fix 6 is better
I don`t know.0
