    Hi

Please be careful when using energyhelpline for a comparison. I have just used them as I am on the Scottish Power online capped enery sept 2011 dual fuel where I found a saving of £65 for my gas and £174 for my electricity. So even taking a £50 penalty for coming out of it, it is worth while. HOWEVER when i looked at the tariff energyhelpline was using they were very different. The standing charge they quoted included VAT and was much lower than what Scottish Power sent me on my bill. I then telephoned Scottish Power to confirm the prices on my bill. I then phoned energyhelpline who then have told me that it will take a few days to change the prices.

So this £241 savings is not correct!!!!!

Yes - even i found that the tarrif rates for OES13 on energyhelpline were different to what was actually printed on my Scottish Power bill ! Be careful not to take the numbers given on the energyhelpline website at face value. Hope this helps!

There seem to be so many variables apart from incipient rage at being at the mercy of this energy supplier debacle; a) cashback vs cancellation charges; b) understanding the k/w hour tangle c) too many opportunities to get it wrong

Having other things to do and realising a stable budget is important to us, we held our noses and arranged direct with SP to go from online energy saver 12 to Capped Price Energy June 2013 (Version B).

In money terms it means going from £102 to £120 per month for gas and electricity. That seems to be about 17.5% increase, rate fixed for 2 years, (based on same usage as this last year).

No cancellation charge. Capped might mean it goes down.

No doubt others will have got cashback and cut a tighter deal but I just don't have the time. This tariff was shown on energhelpline today - but not available. It was available direct.

Good luck moneysavers - hope you find your best deal.

Just on the phone now, seems they're trying to shift everyone to fixed rate...

For those calling btw, use this number rather than the 0845 - 0800 400200

Just switched from OES 11 to OES 14.

I was told OES 14 isn't affected by this price increase but may be affected by future price increases and warned that I would be taking a risk (trying to sell me a capped rate basically). I'm told I'm stuck with OES 14 until Aug 2012 (unless I pay a cancellation fee) but I'm betting there'll be a way around it if the price goes up again.

My bill just dropped by £1 a month! lol.

I wish they would all sing from the same hymn sheet. It is ridiculous how many different statements their staff are coming out with! If it's meant to confuse us...it's working

About 5 minutes. Are you on the 0800 number?

Just got through. The advisor informed me that OES 14 and SP DIRECT were only available to dual fuel customers (I'm electric only) and he tried to flog me the capped tariff. He also confirmed that there would be no penalty for changing supplier if I decided to. Think I may have a shop around to see what is out there.

I wasn't going to fix but I've just switched to npower Go fix 6. I've also notified SP to make sure I don't get charged a penalty fee. npower Go fix 6 is only £15 dearer (based on 3000kWh annual usage) than the cheapest variable rate on the comparison sites (npower online 22) which is due to go up soon anyway. I also get to make the most of my cheap current rates until the switch. Thanks to everyone for providing valuable info in this thread, it helped get me off my !!!! to look for an alternative. Looks like SP have missed out and have actually done me a favour by not allowing electric only customers on to their OES 14 and DIRECT tariffs.
