Just had my email from Scottish power about my tarriff price rise!

Elec:
First 225kWh 16.453 going up to 20.825 that a stupid rise of 26.5%
Remaining 9.322 going up to 10.467 that’s a rise of 12.3%

Gas:
First 670kWh 5.339 going up to 7.616 that’s a more than stupid rise of 42.6%
Remaining 2.162 going up to 3.477 that an unbelievable and extortionate rise of 60.8%

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I'm on the Online Energy Saver 11 package.

I'm lost for words at this phenominal rise

What tariffs have they offered you,Robh? Different customers seem to have been offered different options.I haven't even had an email yet. What is the initial of your surname? I wonder if it is going in alphabetical order.Mine is R

Ahh, I didn't look at the tarriff offered, hmmmmm.

Seems i have been offered:

Elec: WWW Domestic Single Rate Premier Plus (No Standing Charge)

Gas: WWW Premier Plus (No Standing Charge)

What does this mean? They are moving me from Online Energy Save 11 to the 2 seperate tarriffs? !!!!!!? Talk about confising the customer to blag ever more money. Barstewards!

Not two separate tariffs as such, but it sounds like their normal standard tariff unless you opt for a better one. They are pushing people to go for fixed or capped but there is now some dispute as to whether they will allow their own customers to have the discounted rate ones.Everyone seems to be told something different. As you say, talk about confusing!

How do you opt for a better one? Spend hours waiting on the phone to try and get through to them? Or just move elsewhere?
• I'm on the same tariff. I am not going to accept an increase of 36% elec & 56% gas.
Have tried various comparions based on my annual usage & EDF are apparently going to save me £221.
Have gone through Simplyswitch for £40 cashback, and will contact SP to let them know & hopefully will not be charged the £50
Have gone for EDF fixed tariff until Sept 2012.
I have 7 days cooling off, just in case something better comes along!
OMG! sent an email to SP complaints this morning- "I find it totally unacceptable that you are increasing my gas price by 56% and my elec by 36%

When I first switched over to you, I was given the understanding that you were going to save me around £250 per year, which doesn’t appear to have happened.

I have checked various comparison sites, and based on my annual usage, I will be saving £221 by moving onto a fixed tariff with EDF.

I am therefore giving you notice that it my intention to move my supply and as such, I understand that you will not be charging your usual exit fees.

I have 7 days cooling off period with EDF, therefore, you are more than welcome to contact me if you would like me to remain as a customer, providing of course, that you can match or better the deal offered by EDF"

Their response??

I can confirm that we are unable to match the savings quoted below and as such I understand your reasons for leaving ScottishPower, as such I have registered your right to cancel without incurring a cancelation charge.

If you have any further problems please let me know"

Looks to me as though they're not even bothered about keeping their own customers!

Have you lloked on their website and explored all the different options.A lot depends on what you use the most(in my case, electricity) and what region you are in,as well as the tariff itself.

The best one for me is the direct 12 but there si no knowing when they will push that price up.When i came out of my fixed rate after nearly three years i found that prices were not realy that much more so i am loathe to do it again. But i do like Scottish Powers way of inputting readings and the instant bill it provides so i don't want to leave them IF they play fair.I haven't even tried to get through to them yet,i want the email first.

The trouble with switching to another company, unless you get a fixed-price deal, is that they might soon increase their prices.

Have you compared the EDF deal with SP's OLE14?
• EDF is fixed until Oct 2012

What is SP OLE14-can't locate this on their website-it is fixed/capped?

I haven't had the email either - surname starts with N. I am not panicking yet, we have another six weeks before the rise takes effect and I want to see what the other companies are doing.
