Lloyds TSB £50 offer ENDS TODAY (30/06)0

Oh, bum! I suppose I'll have to give the Alliance and Leicester account a go. The general concensus is that their customer service is bloody awful, but the rate is excellent on in-credit balances and a 0% overdraft for 1 year to boot. Is it worth the potential hassle?0

Thank you for alerting us all to the A&L's refer a friend £100 loophole in today's Money Tips email. I was about to mention it to my 20 year old son who wants to change his bank account, when I noticed on the A&L website that you need to be at least 21 to have the account. Can you think of any valid reason for the A&L age restriction? Or maybe the other readers of your website can offer a suggestion for this.
If you put out an update about the acount maybe you could point out this rather irritating restriction.
Many thanks for all your interesting and money-saving articles.0 -
Just went into the Alliance & Leicester website to print out the Recommend a Friend vouchers that you have to use and they show £25 and not £50. I spoke to their customer services and they said if you send the £25 one back that is all you would receive. I was also told that some customers have been able to print off the £50 vouchers. My query has been passed to their IT section and they are going to send me paper vouchers for completion.
If anyone is printing off these vouchers be careful and check the value printed on them!!0 -
Beware I tried to use the voucher loophole last time around, it was just way too much hassle and in the end I didn't even bother with the vouchers.
I wouldn't recommend A&L to anybody. They have now closed my account due to me not funding it every month.
Funny thing is my partners account, opened at the same time, is still up and running.0 -
Hi
Hopefully I havent missed anyone asking this question already. I'd be surprised if anyone else was in this situation though!!
I have had an A and L account for 12 months. Recently my sister and I have purchased a house which is in need of a lot of work in which we are sharing the mortgage repayments. I am looking to set up a joint account that we can both have a standing order into from our current accounts that will pay the mortgage payments.
I'm looking towards getting the £50 (x2) from A and L and wondered if it would be possible to set up a joint account in my sisters name with me as a joint account holder. If so I could then recommend her and we get £50 each.
Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?
Cheers

Could you open the account in her name and then convert in to a joint account later?0

Sounds like it might be worth a go. Thanks. :T0

With the Cahoot current account, I understand they will transfer your existing DDs and SOs to theirs from your old one, but has anyone ever done 2 accounts at the same time?
I ask because me and the OH have a joint account (used for bills/mortgage etc) with HSBC, and I have my current account for personal spending and salary etc. We would need both of these switching. All the blurb i've seen so far does not seem to mention this..."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
Quidco are giving you £50 for opening an A&L current account
http://www.quidco.com/finance/alliance-leicester-current-account/
Then you get a refer a friend £50 bonus from A&L too.
If anyone wants to get £50 before they create their A&L account PM me.
