  • I have been with Smile for almost two years. They have mostly been OK but I am sure I remember hearing that one of the banks has dispensed with the delay in crediting accounts with funds which have been paid in.
When I recently transferred online from my Smile Current to my Smile Visa it took a couple of days over the deadline and Smile charged interest. Interesting that when the transfer is made the funds leave the current account immediately but take days to credit the visa account.
I also have an ISA with Smile - and a savings account - I am wondering if it's time I changed...
  • Transfers from smile current accounts to smile visa cards take 2 days to transfer. I've been with smile for 3 years and haven't had a problem with them at all. Appreciate that they charged you for going over your payment date, but you're told when the payment has to be made by to avoid any interest payments. Set up a direct debit for the full amount and it's paid on the date due. Mistakes can happen, but of all the banks I've been with, smile have been the most even-handed and quick to deal with mistakes (which have been few and far between).

I've dabbled with other banks since, but I always come back to smile - other internet offerings just don't seem to cut the ice.
  • Hi all,
If I apply for another account and get turned down. Would it effect my credit score? Im trying to get a mortgage at the mo but my credit is not brilliant. Worried I might make it worse.
Any info would be much apprecaited:confused:
  • I'm thinking about signing upto an A&L premier direct current account.

A couple of quick questions incase anyone knows:

    1. Is the linked 12% premier regular saver available with the Premier direct current account or only the premier current account?

    2. As I have a Nationwide Flex account - can I keep this open without making any payments into it over the next year?

Any applications for credit (including loans, overdrafts, credit cards, mobile phones on contract) WILL show on your credit rating so it's wise not to make too many applications in a short space of time. Also a word of advice from me, how long you've had your current account does affect your credit status (longer means your credit score is better), so if you switch current accounts it may reduce your ability to get credit.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

just found out, if you apply for a credit card with cahoot, you automatically get a current account with a 100 interest free overdraft if accepted!!:o

so all you who cant get a current account, its worth a try!

Just be a little careful here. I had a savings account with Cahoot and after the trouble I had and many others (see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=181958) I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I have an overdraft of around £5000 with lloyds tsb, apart from card tarting can anyone suggest the best place to relocate it on the lowest interest possible?

We moved from Lloyds TSB to A & L and they matched our o/d (£5500) - we pay salaries into it though.

    [STRIKE]Only the Premier current account[/STRIKE]

The linked 12% saver is available with BOTH the Premier Direct current account and the Premier current account.

Bear in mind that only Premier Direct pays the 6.1% current a/c iinterest...(Premier only pays 1.5% current a/c interest!)

Contact me if you need an introduction, I will share my intro 50/50 ;)

Were there any requirements to get the od matched?

I'm in the middle of receiving the paperwork for my new A&L account, but the od they have offered is £1000 whereas my LTSB is £2000. I'd like them to match it and wondered if a simple email or telephone call would sort it.
