Sorry does anyone know if the First Direct offer of open a current a/c, get 50 pounds credit and a CD Wow 15 quid voucher is still on? I can only see the 50 pound credit on their website for switching to them. I did a forum search but it throws out the word "First"!! & can't find the link someone posted a while ago.
They can't force you to close your old 0.1% interest bank account, but if you don't,can they withhold the 50 quid? Would be paying in a salary each month and using it for the dds.

I've been with HSBC for about 5 years - have £1400 overdraft, £400 on a credit card and a £9,000 professional studies loan. My wages are about £1300 a month.
But I've just moved house this weekend and haven't been at an address prior to this for longer than 6 months - at some addresses I wasn't on the electoral roll as I was staying with friends - does anyone know if this is why I've been turned down?
Also if there's anything I can do to get them to reconsider?
(Hope this is the right place to post this by the way!)
 To: Jo
I also applied to A&L and was turned down.
To get them to reconsider I was advised to email to: underwriting.review@alliance-Leicester.co.uk
Unfortunately for me, they wrote back still saying No, but it's worth a try for you.Now can anyone help me?
Have a bad credit history but after selling my house:
1. I have paid off all my debts.
2. Am now in full time (long term) employment.
3. Am now always in credit.
4. I have a little money over to invest.
5. Do not want a credit card.
Where can I find a reasonable 'in credit' current account provider willing to accept me?:wave::wave::hello:0 -
I would reccomend Nationwide Flex for customer service, website, charges and the intrest rate isn't bad either. However, I 'm with A&L for a year to take advantage, then back to Nationwide.
With regard ethics, my brother swears by SMILE, which is also a pretty good all-rounder.
The current accont for you depends on what you wan't from it (eg. low overdraft charges (why?)), high interest rate, customer service etc.0 -
I'm looking for some help for my daughter please - she's filling in her student loan form and they need bank account details. The account she has now will not give her a debit card or overdraft so she's looking for a specific student account - any recommendations?0

Can you have more than one current account ?
My father has used Natwest for the last 40+ years. He has a standard current account.
I did ask a friend that works at Natwest and she said I could have another current account and would only have to keep the mimumum in the Natwest a/c, but I would like to get this confirmed before he switches.0 -
