OK bed has gone and i am £200 better off.  The lady snapped it up and asked how much i wanted.  As i had put buy in now for £200, i felt i should say that.  She said not a problem very quickly.  Now to decided if i use some of it to buy some shelving in the garage or if i should save it all.

That's great news! I'll probably get told off but I would go for some shelving, you can never have enough shelves and storage!

I ordered the shelving unit and a tape measure as ours must have been in one of OH's boxes.  Only £35 in total so still plenty in the house fund.  I have been adding things to my christmas list that are no longer in the garage but i might need, such as a bicycle pump and long extension lead.  I wont buy them unless absolutely needed, but will give family something to wrap as i am normally difficult to buy for.  Also my uncle is coming down to visit next week and i mentioned a few this i was asking for and he has duplicates so said i could have them (several relatives has passed away and he has ended up with lots of their things as he is a bit of a hoarder).  I do need a sensible way to store the bikes.  I looked at some that hook them up high whilst the back wheel rests on the ground, but when i held mine up to test the size it was so heavy, i think i would struggle to lift it in place.  Also looked at the ones that build one using a pallet, but obviously they use more space than the upright solution.

Not sure where / how you are saving money but anything over 6k and your UC starts reducing over 16k and it disappears

Woken up to beautiful weather.  Its already warm, so I've opened all windows and doors that i can (still waiting for OH's uncle to come and replace some of the window locks so we can open all windows).  Think today other than cleaning the kitchen i will just be trying to keep cool.  I might go through the tins of part used paint in garage and see if any of it is any good.  I also need to ring charity shops and see if i can get rid of 2 large moving boxes of stuff anytime soon.  A neighbor said only a few places are taking donations at the at the moment, but if i can take them tomorrow that would be great as children will be at their dads so i will be able to fit them in the car lol.  Really looking forward to my shelves arriving so i can organize things in the garage.  It was always his room if you can call it a room, and i was not allowed to put things in it, so it meant lots of things ended up in the house that shouldn't have been in here such as buckets and spades.  Stupid question, but can you paint straight onto breeze block type bricks?

Yes but I think it needs to be masonry paint. But I could be wrong. I know there's concrete paint which is good for garage floors xxx

Thank you kitten - i think i saw a pot of that in the garage.  It was too hot to be doing much in there today, or in fact much at all, so i have had a lazy day in preparation for tomorrow when i will go through the boxes at dads for last few bits of OH's stuff.  We did nip out to the local farm shop for a pot of posh ice cream as we won a voucher in one of last years raffles.  I thought today would be a good day for ice cream.  It was very tasty and a nice treat.

I am getting a quote on a new side door and frame for the garage.  It is badly rotten and this morning when i was in there i could see daylight through the wood.  My lovely kind neighbor was going to paint it for me, but i think it has passed the point of no return now.  As i am doing it up inside - well cleaning it, i don't want it to be a waste of time if the next burgler comes along and blows down the door!  Really if a good gust of wind came along, it would blow the door in.  I have been recommended someone from a friend and just had a phone conversation with them.  Have also sent him some picture of the door to so he can see what he is dealing with.  I am looking for cheap but secure as obviously don't plan on being here longer than necessary.  I guess if i do the odd little job here and there it might help when i come to sell it.  Will wait for him to arrange for a visit and wait for a quote.
