Put your kWh figs into any comp site and it will tell you-no need to work anything out manually!

  • I took the plunge yesterday and switched to Fixed 2014 I was on Online saver 7 with EDF (i went over to them in december) I have had no problems at all and always been able to contact edf when I needed to. I worked out from my yearly consumption (KwH) that my Direct Debit only needed to go up by £2 a month to cover the new prices - That is £2 a month compared to what I was paying before I moved to edf when I was with atlantic so I am happy as I had been paying that amount for the past three years so a small price (literally) to pay for piece of mind till 3/2014 (just got to remind children that it's the unit price that is fixed so that doesn't mean thay can leave the lights on all the time!!!!)

Now got to start to sort out my mortgage that is coming off fixed rate in 6 months time (that's a trickier one to deal with)
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

  • just switched from Npower to EDF not much of a saving but NPower have not announced their increase yet, and as i am in credit thought it would be a good time! went through Topcashback, not good reviews for tracking tho...

Ive opted for EDF 2014...presently on British gas standard,so a saving of £150 a year for me(£229 compared to BG's only fixed rate offer),read about some dodgy EDF transfers, but so far everything seems fine, ive managed to phone without too long a wait, and i can already access my online account...where everything is "pending".

I'm thinking of doing similar, BG Standard (with Energysmart) to EDF 2014.

What I wondered, just out of curiosity. Is the 2014 Fixed tarrif the same deal/price as it was a couple of months ago?

    Yes-that's why's it a fixed tariff.
But you'd better be quick, as this one will probably be pulled very shortly. Fixed Saver v2 has already gone and been replaced with a more expensive fix to 12/2012.

Wouldn't it be in EDF's interests to keep this tariff going for as long as possible so as to attract as many customers as it can from the other energy companies or sign up as many customers as it can?

I've gone for the fixed 2014...Price comparisons suggested I might save around £100.

NPower doubled my DD at my last bill in April, and after switching to a 'cheaper' tariff they are now saying they will be increasing that tariff too, it seemed like a good time to switch company altogether and go for fixed.

A little nervous that it might not save me money as expected...but I am a worrier and a pessmist by nature. However the thought of not having to do any more comparisons until 2013 when the early switch penalty runs out is very appealing... I hate how confusing it all gets.

Just need to get my husband to be as energy conscious as me now!

No, because it's a low or nil-margin tariff. Now that everyone except EDF has anounced their increases, EDF will hoover up as many refugees from the other Big 5 as it can, then announce their own increase, and drop this tariff.

  • Just switched with energyhelpline.

Thought I was a little surprised, the cooling off period said 7 days. I thought I'd seen 12 days elsewhere earlier.
