The status chart is meaningless-the date it displays for 'on supply' is actually the date I signed up!
The individual messages will specify the actual on supply date (although in my case these were both different dates to those given by my outgoing suppliers by a day or two).

I believe that EDf have bought a recycled ERNIE. There is no way that outputs from the system are anything but random numbers, be they Direct Debit amounts, meter reading records or relevant dates.

I don't know what you mean. According to their computer (a term I use loosely), my gas supply started with them on 11//2/21/0. I'm still waiting for Captain Kirk to get back to me on what that is in Earth time - been on hold for light years.;)

After reading the last few comments I logged into MyAccount ; mysteriously a new gas reading has appeared for Monday but no electric reading even tho' both meters are in the same external cupboard!
Wonder if I'm going to receive a recalculated DD for gas now???
As everyone else has commented - the Account tracker page is u/s - mine is now only showing the gas contract (no electricity) and still shows supply start date as the switch request date

Ditto regarding the electricity workflow. My gas transferred about 2 weeks after electricity and I am assuming the gas workflow will similarly disappear.

The MyAccount account details page currently displays accurate data and the most recent DD notice is for the amount I consider correct. Incidently the "message" was not present immediately the email was received. Further incompetent systems analysis and testing?:(

Your comment about the meter readings is *very* interesting and something I had missed. I last submitted readings about 2 weeks ago (I have a screen print proof), which triggered a doubling of the electricity payment for no consumption:D. This morning the gas reading is the 2 week old reading with yesterday's date, the electricity reading is not the submitted reading but quite an accurate estimate (as it happens) for yesterday, except it is not marked as an estimate.

Edf cannot "win" a fight based on accurate metering and Direct Debit compliance with experienced posters, but I worry about less experienced switchers. They need some urgent words of comfort and advice from Consumer Focus.

Big assumption there, that there was any systems analysis and testing, incompetent or otherwise.:)

Is it worth checking with EDF that they have received it? As I would hate to find out in a couple of weeks time or something that they hadn't got it and I'd missed out on the deal cause they'd pulled it or something.

How long shall I wait for that email before chasing do you think?

I've still had no email from EDF confirming anything.

Can I try the process again through another referral site? Or is that impossible, or does it mess things up?

I just want to make sure I don't miss out on the tariff.

    When did you apply?
Signing up in duplicate will just screw things up.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Dear Mr xxx,

Thank you for using energyhelpline.com to switch your Gas & Electricity (reference number ########).

Your cashback will be paid one to two months after your switch has gone live with the new supplier. It will either be credited to your bank account (if you gave us your bank details at the time of this application), or a cheque will be sent to your correspondence address.

So they'd have had to process that yesterday for you to have a reply today! You need to give it at least until the end of this week.
If you're that impatient, then you're not going to like EDF very much...
If you're worried about the tariff being pulled, then ring them up and get it confirmed that way.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The first contact I had was a "please confirm your email address" email 5 days after applying via the comparison site.

Just be patient. You will need it.
