As has already been pointed out fixed is fixed. Currently "fixed against fixed" is the only "easy to understand" comparison possible though you still have to understand the effect of the length of fix. Basically up to you but for an equivalent length of fix I'm not sure the comparisons support your "not much better" statement.
I'm not a flag carrier for Edf (though I am a "money-saving" flag carrier).
Forum reports of recent Edf "woes" concur with my own recent experience. Out of date forum reports of past Edf "woes" do not concur with my recent experience. Is the system getting better? Should it be expected that the system will improve? Of course that should be the "expectation", though time will tell.
But you hit the nail on the head with your closing comment.0 -
It was the length of the fixed deal that appealed to me, and a lack of risk taking on my behalf. I did this in my head.... I feel there's little likelihood of prices dropping drastically. in the next couple of years..... If they drop so dramatically then I'll just drop out of the EDF early exit fee and still save. However, if they continue increasing then I've go some peace of mind for a few years. So for me I feel like it's win win.
As for customer service, they called me back yesterday afternoon at exactly the time they said they would, I spoke to the same nice helpful lady, and things were swiftly sorted. We agreed a realistic amount to pay on the DD (my expected spend/12!), so I don't foresee having to actually call them that often really. But when I did call them I only had to wait 10 minutes, and it was free-phone, so I wasn't too bothered.0 -
As Jalexa has said, it does appear from more recent comments that EDF's customer service is improving. Still some way to go, but maybe they are realising that having low prices may attract new customers, but retaining them involves providing a reasonable level of service. Bit of investment required there!

EDF's Fixed Saver 2 tariff will make a reappearance tomorrow0

EDF's Fixed Saver 2 tariff will make a reappearance tomorrow
And on what source do you base that information?
I think this highly unlikely, since EDF introduced Fix For 2012 as the same time as they dropped FS2. I can't see that they would offer 2 almost identical fixes in terms of contract length, but at different prices. What would be the point? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I've signed up today, just hope it is not too stressful. The saving compared to Southern Electric's fix 2014 was about £400 per year, so no contest.
Shame though, I never had any problems with Southern Electric.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
The fixed saver V2 comes back available tomorrow, this is fact. This is the best deal available in terms of cheapest fixed rate deal. This is why its coming back out, because Scottish power brought theirs out. The 2014 tariff is based on their current prices, and here's a small fact, even if the prices go up tomorrow, the 2014 will still be available on today's rates ;-)0

Well we'll know in a couple of hours then. But (this includes hydden as well) please enlighten us as to the source of your information?
You can't work for EDF, as we all know that EDF won't allow company reps on this board...unless you're freelancing...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
No I don't work for EDF, I just ask the right questions as a customer of theirs concerning fixed for 2014. As for the fixed saver tariff this is something I have heard from a door step seller0
