was with online saver 7 - just phoned and changed to fixed 2014 - given that EDF have announced the belated OS7 price increase - the difference to fixed 2014 isnt much , and given the sheep effect that is likely to happen with scottish power , think i`ve made the right choice.

`Kelly` from EDF did say quite alot of calls today from ppl doing the same thing ; she did say that it could be withdrawn at anytime.

Switched to EDF fix 2014 today from EON FOL8 which ends 1 July.

I will be paying approx £450 p.a more than FLO8, but I think it will be worth it in the long run than going on a variable product, where at best will be paying £180 more.
Once the price hikes arrive, this will be wiped out, and if they go down significantly:rotfl:, I can always jump ship with a small fee to pay.

I've started the switch to EDF fix 2014 from FOL v8 this afternoon. The best variable tariff I could get (pre any new increases!) was going to be ~ £219 more than current - the EDF fix will cost me ~£408 more pa.So if there is a ~ 10% rise coming on variable tariffs then the difference in year 1 will only be ~ £70-£80 - reckon that I should make that back before March 2014 - its a gamble ..but the way things are going I think it was one worth taking!

Well done. It should work out for you.
All I would say is get some meter readings in before E.On flag your account as closing and prevent you entering any more readings or requesting a bill online. Also take a screen print of the readings when you enter them as you won't be able to view them online either.
On my final bill, which had the end of FOL7 and a few weeks on EnergyOnline, they used estimated readings for May 2, which were lower than the actual readings I entered online on May 1. Meant they overcharged me by charging some of my usage at EnergyOnline rates when it should have been on the lower FOL7 rates. Still waiting for them to get back to me on that. It's not a lot of money, just the principle of it all as far as I'm concerned.

Since there is a "cooling off" period of 12 days with EDF I have left a big note by the door to read the meters and ask for a bill on the 17th June, well within this window. This means the maximum loss of discount (if the switch happened before 1/7-extremely unlikely!) is two weeks worth of summer usage (~ £4):)

I'm just completing the switch to EDF fixed 2014, was on EON FOL7 that finished end of April. EDF's Fix 2014 came out cheaper than EON's capped 2013 tarrif and although it's a 3 year fix, the dual fuel exit fee reduces to £30 in year 2 and there's no exit fee at all in the 3rd year so I'm viewing it as a fix for 1-2 years with an option to stay for 3 if prices are still high.

I'm trying to decide between EDF's fixed offerings, either to Sep 2012 or to Mar 2014.
    Price difference is about £250 / year ( 16% ).
Anyone care to gaze into their crystal balls?

is E.ON Price Protection April 2014 better then the EDF fixed 2014?

    Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
    26.502 pence

    Normal units
    12.075 pence per kWh

    Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
    7.7679 pence

    Normal units
    3.37995 pence per kWh

EDF seem to change a daily fee which makes it harder to work it out.

I can't tell without knowing whether there are any discounts with the EON Tariff - it doesn't appear on any of the comparison sites as far as I can see.
edit - appears to have 8% discount - for my usage EON 2014 would be £8 a year cheaper than EDF 2014 IF I COULD GET IT!!!!
