All I would say is get some meter readings in before E.On flag your account as closing and prevent you entering any more readings or requesting a bill online. Also take a screen print of the readings when you enter them as you won't be able to view them online either.
On my final bill, which had the end of FOL7 and a few weeks on EnergyOnline, they used estimated readings for May 2, which were lower than the actual readings I entered online on May 1. Meant they overcharged me by charging some of my usage at EnergyOnline rates when it should have been on the lower FOL7 rates. Still waiting for them to get back to me on that. It's not a lot of money, just the principle of it all as far as I'm concerned.
Just as a follow up to the above....
E.On have sorted it out and credited me with the amount they overcharged. Only just over £6, but just thought I'd see how they treat an ex-customer. Took a bit of explaining to them, but somebody did understand in the end, sorted it out and phoned me back to say it was sorted. They do have good customer service, just the management of their tariffs that needs some attention it would seem.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Or am i missing something.
'Fixed' refers to the fact that it's price fixed until 2014, not that you're locked in contract. there's a sliding scale of termination fees, £35 year 1, £15 year 2, £0 year 3.
Signed up today, very happy i did, i think we're going to be better off in the long run.current debt as at 10/01/11- £12500 -
New to the forum and all these different tariff's are doing my head in. at the moment I am with eon saver online 4 elec 19.5 and 9.3 gas 5.9 and 2.92 with vat my calculation means that prices have to rise 30 percent before I start paying 25p or 26p per unit that are being charged for fixing till 2013 or 2014 so have decided to stay, only time will tell if I am wrong0

In NW, on EON FOL v8 finishing 1st July. Moving to EDF fixed 2014 but havent applied yet (hopefully tomorrow) .Eon asked me yesterday for readings for my due bill ,which Ive given. I understand theres a 12 day cooling off period with EDF, but when do Eon first get to hear of your intended move - is it not till after this 12 days - so I can safely ask Eon for another bill 12 days from tomorrow to keep my final bill on which I presume I lose discounts small?0

I think E.On get notified just after the cooling off period, so your plan should work. EDF need a reading from you anyway, which they request after the cooling off, so I doubt if E.On would be told before then. I found my E.On account was flagged as "Closing" very soon after the cooling off period. EDF did assure me no contact would be made before then and it appears that it wasn't.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Just initiated a switch from Scottish power to EDF 2014 deal. Various comparison websites said the extra cost would be £5 per year !
My historical consumption is Gas 8198 Kw and Electric 1805 Kw being managed downwards if possible.
Being a smallish consumer, its a great deal for me.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Changed a few days ago to EDF 2014, a bit scared because it will be higher than my BG websaver 11, but that was going up anyway so at least I wont have to keep checking and changing every year.0

I have now completed my switch from Eon to eDF. Eon had moved me to their EnergyOnline tariff after my previous 'deal' FixOnline 8 had come to an end and I am now on eDF Energy Fixed Price 2014.
I decided to calculate my final bill with Eon based on the gas and electricity meter readings I took yesterday and then compare it with my new eDF prices. I was surprised to find that on a small amount of summer usage, my energy costs would be much the same, even if eDF had billed it on Fixed Price 2014! Over a whole year with much higher gas consumption, Fixed Price 2014 will likely cost me 10% more than Eon EnergyOnline, a relatively small extra percentage to pay for a 'price fix' knowing that energy prices are rising shortly in any case.0 -
Just initiated a swap from eon save online 5 on which eon had just annouced a 20% increase on gas prices from 13/9 to edf fixed 2014. This will cost a bit more than the new eon save online 5 prices but I think will easily save money by 2014. I will have to pay £30 for ending eon deal early but this will be covered by quidco cash back and uswitch wine voucher. No tariff discount on eons final bill but I will enter readings and request a bill closer to the swap date.
Anyone noticed that the gas prices on the 2 edf fixed deals are similar but the electricity price is a lot higher on the 2014 tariff? So maybe potential for getting close to the 2012 deal (which would have been cheaper than eons new pricing) by cutting electricity usage.0
