babys ears pierced

So she's caring for her DGD, and gets her eyebrows waxed while doing so? Sorry, but when you're looking after a baby, you concentrate on looking after the baby, you don't swan round getting your beauty treatments!
Fair enough if a mother takes baby with her for such an appointment, we don't always have the choice, but granny?
WAY out of order.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Reading the first post was enough for me.
Is she chav or something? Effectively, she has committed an assault against this child. Maybe she is so stupid that she doesnt realise this though the Police might take a different view.
To me it is as serious an assault as the way some people think its ok to hack off the foreskins of male babies.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
OMG - I was so shocked when I read your post!!!:eek::eek:
You were restrained with just swearing at your MIL........I wouldve pushed mine out the front door if she had dared to do anything like that to my kids without permission!! In fact she got an ear-full only last year for not telling us our 14 yr old had been taken to A&E by ambulance.
My daughter had her ears pierced when she was 8 but only when I was sure she was willing to suffer the pain and care for them while healing. I certainly wouldnt have made her have them just because they look nice!
I feel a little sorry for your husband stuck in the middle between you, but he really needs to take your side on this. In the meantime, definately no unsupervised visits in my opinion - she's obviously not to be trusted !!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -
Im in shock about this, i dont blame you for being upset and swearing at her...if she doesnt look after your children very often anyway then if it was me next time she asked to the answer would be no...she can visit if she wants to see them.Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

I dont think you have over reacted at all, I would have gone ballistic and probably said the f word as well although I dont normally swear, this would have been treated as an exceptional case.
I agree that your MIL has probably signed the consent form so the salon wont be in the wrong, some places ask for parents signature others ask for the signature of an adult.
I would talk to you MIL when you feel a bit calmer and tell her straight that she is not allowed to make decision regarding hair/ears or anything else these are your decisions to make. I would also tell her that if anything happens like this again she will not be allowed to have any unsupervised contact.
I had my ears pierced very young as did all my family, it would not be my choice as personally i dont like seeing small children with earrings.
Hope you slept well and your daughters ears heal quickly0 -
Who was looking after the baby whilst Mil was having her eyebrows waxed!?!0
-
I took the earrings out immediately, apart from the fact i dont like the look of earrings on babies, i also dont want to risk infection.
Shes had a pattern shaved on my sons hair before that i didnt appreciate but wasnt as big of a deal because it wasnt painful or permanent.
OH hates causing a fuss about anything but particulary because his mother is very good to us in regards to money ( gave us a lump sum towards our house deposit a few years ago) which of course i appreciate but i cant just let this one go.
Shes not talking to us now because i swore at her earlier on but i dont feel she has the right to huff and i certainly dont feel i should be the one to make up!
She really can't go around doing these things without your express permission. Everything you said to her, she deserved and then some.
If I was you I would print out all the responses on this thread and send them to her - make her realise her behaviour is totally unacceptable to just about everybody - not just you. x0 -
i don't think any sane parent would even slightly agree with what she did.
Your MIL has serious issues but more concerning is she seems to have taken over and is not even having the courtesy to ask your permission.
Is this the sort of person you want looking after your child?
Regardless of how easy this childcare is there is no way ( with two incidents involving both your children ) i would ever let her have them in her sole charge again.
It a hiddeous thing to do to an inncoent child I hope they do heel up and she doesn't get infections poor thing0 -
She would never, ever, be allowed to have any of my children again alone in her presence - they would only go to her with another adult present.
What an absolute take-over of your children - shaving your son's head - and then this! Obvously a chav!0 -
 I am horrified that somebody would mutilate a defenceless child in this way, let alone without permission from the parents :eek:0
