Looking at the forums recommended by lawful, there seem to be an awful lot of people who've received parking tickets, who've had their car towed, or are fighting off bailiffs.

Must've put their magic parking notice in the windscreen upside-down or something. Because the magic parking notice definitely works, lawful told us so.

!!!!!!?! Whats that got to do with common law and magic windscreen stickers?! That's just common sense! I parked on double yellows while I delivered something to a branch of the company I used to work for. Was in and straight out but the traffic warden was there already. I wrote to the council and they cancelled the ticket straight away! I didn't need some wacky website populated by a bunch of hippies to tell me that was the sensible thing to do! And I sure didn't need no magic spells stuck to my windscreen either.

Stick to your own forum, this one isn't the place for your hocus pocus!!

Well spotted lovinituk. That anecdote is just a bog-standard tale of the cancellation of an incorrectly-issued ticket, it has the square root of naff all to do with Freejerk fairy-dust.

There was a guy on here the other day who had a penalty charge cancelled, and he completely misunderstood the reason it had been cancelled (not surprisingly, since it was mostly a load of irrelevant legalese). Picking out the wheat from the chaff, it turned out that the reason for the cancellation was that the Traffic Regulation Order omitted to include a requirement to display a ticket. Was that the ground on which he appealed? No, of course not: when he appealed he had no idea what was in the TRO!

So tickets get cancelled for all sorts of reasons which aren't necessarily related to the grounds of the appeal - and for reasons that are not always easy to understand! One thing for sure, though, is that no ticket ever got cancelled because some freaktard sent it back with some magic spells scrawled on it!

I refer freaktard visitors back to my little tale of elephants and custard powder.

As I said earlier, I've never been hit on the head by an asteroid and it is all down to the notice I display. Nothing whatsoever to do with actually not getting hit by an asteroid, its down to the notice. Nothing else.

There are some severely logically challenged individuals who believe in that rubbish and lawful is no exception.

The inability of gullible fools to understand the difference between those two syllogisms has been the mainstay of snake oil salesmen throughout human history.

I can still remember a question in my 11-plus along the lines of

1. All carrots are vegetables

therefore;

All vegetables are carrots. True or False.

I suspect lawful would struggle with this based on his understanding of the magic notice.
