But statute law only has standing on dry land if both parties agree to it. Otherwise, common law has precedence.

I know it sounds odd, but it is true - if you are prepared to research it thoroughly and apply it carefully. It is very easy to be tripped up into accepting statute law, so I cannot recommend these methods for most people. But I can recommend everyone research to see if it is worth the effort for them to become skilled in these methods.

That's my experience, and the experience of many others. But that is not to say "Get this sticker on your windscreen and you'll never get another parking ticket".

Might be that one day someone will ignore the notice and either ticket or clamp me. I've researched how to deal with that, and am confident I'll win.

If someone else wants to use the notice, but is not prepared to do the research and stick to their guns if someone does ticket or clamp them, then I would advise that person not to use the notice (like I don't recommend people who don't know how to drive or keep their eyes open to take a car on the road!). Or at least I would tell them they might want to put the notice in their windscreen so that if they accidentally overstay in street or pay and display parking they are probably less likely to get a ticket or a clamp, but that they would have to accept the consequences if they don't know what to do if and when it happens.
