  • Hi guys,

Thank you for your lovely comments - I suppose I am pretty positive but that is only after years of being knocked down and only having myself to make sure that I got back up again. Come on sw - you can do it too, and I will be behind you all the way... ;)

The varifocals I am getting are called "business lenses" as I only need them for reading and computer work. They have a clear area at the top that is normal - hopefully to stop me from peering over the top of my glasses to talk to people. The other bad habit is taking them off with one hand and stretching the arm bit to the point of it all getting floppy. My new pair are Karen Millen (get me - tres chic) and are far more solid. Can't wait for Friday when I pick them up.

No qualms about Ex, Wordsmith, this is it this time. It needed closure ( so hate that word, but it works) and I have got it this time. Moving on..... solo.
Yes, I have ordered the first Simon Scarrow book as I wanted to work through the series if it was good. Good old Amazon with its 1p books. :)

Satchmo - welcome.... don't lurk, join in. I am just going to leave my current manager to come a cropper in her own time.... and she will. I tried the HR route a few months back and I am afraid it came back and bit me on the bum and I am regarded suspiciously in that quarter now. Like I said - small company, small mind mentality. I shall just prove myself right and them wrong when I start in my new job next week - you see.

I phoned the WTC office on Saturday morning for a claim pack and got straight through, to my amazement. After taking my details it seems that I am eligible and a pack is on its way.

My new mission, or should I say old mission, regurgitated.....

I have a very large Council owned sycamore tree rooted in the park next door, about 8 feet from my flat and garden (would be illegal nowadays) which completely overhangs my garden. Two years ago, in heavy winds, some very large boughs broke off, fell and broke my fence. I took photos and tried to claim compensation but the Council refused liability and said that it was "one of those things". At the time I could have pressed it further but didn't and had a new fence built, at my expense. Since then, branches and boughs have fallen down every time it is windy.
On Saturday, a huge bough about 4 feet in diameter fell from another of the trees and cam crashing down. It would have killed anyone if they had been underneath. There were children playing in the park at the time. With high winds forecast today, I am so worried that more will happen. So.... I am going to start campaigning at the Council to get these trees chopped right back or felled, if neccessary. If the one comes down next to my flat it will destroy, my fence, car and cause serious damage in the street as well. It can't be right. Phone calls, photos and emails are the order of the day.... watch this space.

Not too much else to tell.... please let work be uneventful.

    Hugs

Sorry to hear about MrT - I hates jaspers too..horrid little blighters that sting.

Where was the office boy when you needed support? I seem to recall him joining in with Wicked Witch..he needs to man up or ship out:rotfl:

I had the weekend off - I didnt look at the computer once although I did exchange tweets with various people. I watched the telly and did stuff like sleep, wash up, cook dinner, stewed some plums and had them with custard - that meal kept on giving as I had it two days on the trot.

The Fatties will start again - why not spread the word that you have gotten rid of the equipment that way they will start again and you can nobble them because the equipment is still there recording:rotfl: Sheesh, I am so sharp I could cut myself:rotfl:
  • OMG before the end of this week you will have escaped from the Wicked Witch of the North and also Wimpy boy. Yay.

Good luck with sorting out tree! Why is life so complicated? I supposed it is to stop us being complacent. But good for you you keep going and in such a positive way.

Glad you guys are here. It really helps me. I had a knock back to my confidence the other day but there is no use bashing your head against a brick wall is there? You have to keep going.

Just had a day at work. Students are back. Yay to the new year. Am quite looking forward to it but it will be a hard one as am going to be inspected soon, we are being made to sit an exam or two and also the house will be full of builders soon. EEEEK! Still I am working extra hours to make up for it and will try hard to keep in contact with my friends.

Girls what's the difference between bi and vari focals? When i got my sight back two years ago i had to switch to glasses with those lense thingy's. They cost me a grand! but i am really vain and my lenses were so thick it was the only way i could get them into a nice pair of specs and keep my confidence. Luckily now my eyes are better the presciption hasn't changed so hopefully they will last for sometime.

    Anyway shuttup me.

    How is Mr T?

  • Very little time, as usual these days, quick replies - here we go.

MrT is great - back on form.

Bi and Vari are more or less the same thing (I think) except bi are "top and bottom" whereas vari are more spread over the lens. Mine are different at the sides to an egg timer like different bit in the middle. May be wrong, ready to be corrected.

Noise equipment goes tomorrow - only got it for a week. They did stress that they will bring it back if the noise kicks off. Let's wait and see. Fingers crossed.

sw - you have hit it on the head with "wimpy boy" and I think that is part of the reason that I have had problems there. He is not willing to speak out about her behaviour and I actually think I was made the scapegoat in past tussles when he was happy to say he was unhappy but not willing to give the actual cause. Don't care anymore - only 3 more days. I expect I shall be named as the root of all evil when I have gone. They can't even find anyone to interview to replace me, let alone appoint someone. Sort of speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Off to get ready for work. Stayed up until 1.30am watching the tennis - feeling a bit drowsy!

    Hugs

Is your manager being any nicer to you now the leave is imminent? It must be such a relief for you to be going. Don't worry about them talking about you when you go - it will soon become apparent that the problems lie elsewhere. I don't understand why they are not getting anyone to interview - are they having applicants that aren't suitable, or are the conditions so bad that no one is applying? Still, not your problem and why should you care? It will become even more apparent what an asset you were to them when there is no one to do the work that you did.

In your new office, are you further away from the chocolate?

Very stupidly I volunteered to help someone at work today. Anyway job done and i have escaped and am home again. Yay.

SA after today 2 days. It might have been tiring but it was good to stay up and watch the tennis as you enjoy it. Enjoy happy things to take your mind off Wimpy boy and the Wicked Witch, may all her bits drop off!!!:o

Good point Wordsmith, how far away are you from the chocolate ? hope you are closer. Mind you if I worked with chocs I wouldn't be able to concentrate.

I read an old post by Horace on here. Were you at Birmingham University studying Psychology? OMG I did Economics and then was at the School for Public Policy!!!!!!!!!In a lot of ways it was the best time of my life except my brother was a monster. I escaped and now i am trying to live happily ever after.

Aren't human beings amazing? We are adaptable and continue to learn new things and improve ourselves. We must stay positive and we shall overcome. That is my motto for today anyway. Nuffink is impossible. I met Muhammed Ali if he could make it so can we.

    Life is on the up!

When (not if!!!) we have a reunion do you think SA can bring blueprints for the factory and we can get the milk chocolate? I really fancy some. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    2 days SA. TWO Days.

Where is Mr Dojo? bit worried. I like him. :o EEEK (just adding this) not in a rude way. He is a nice person. I am not a perv. Well i am with poor George but otherwise i am ok.

I thought my ears were burning. Oh I remember the School of Public Policy although thankfully I never worked in there, I did manage to work in a few departments though.

Hope everything is going ok SA - don't fret about Wicked Witch of the North or Wimpy Boy or HR - leave them to their incompetencies. Step away from the chocolate it will make you fat:D

Must admit that working in a chocolate factory would make you sick of the stuff and it stinks - why does hot melted chocolate have to smell so sickly? Thankfully, I am far enough away from Bournville that I don't get the stink.

    Hi SA

Freedom is within (chocolate) tasting distance!

My definitely not-lovely ex-boss is being investigated for bullying her current PA, and I'm being interviewed this afternoon for witness purposes. I'll be taking the opportunity to bring all my contemporaneous notes which include the phrase "if you raise a grievance I'll tear you to bits". Hence why I moved.

    Wish me luck
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Day off today but got a meeting at 11am for which it will take an hour to get there. So, love you and leave you and will be back on to update you on work, the tree, life in general.... you know how it goes!
