Morning, SA (probably Evening, SA by the time you read this). Says a lot that your young colleague has to take a day off to get away from the manager, doesn't it? Sorry for him, but how lovely it must be for you to be crossing the days off your calendar.
Your singles holiday sounds wonderful - may I ask which company you are organising it through? (May I also say, because I just can't help myself, that I am very pleased you are going down this route rather than your original plan? I am assuming this is instead of and not as well as?) Have you read any of the Simon Scarrow novels about life in the Roman army? They wouldn't normally be my type of book, but they are quite fascinating and entertaining.
Never thought I'd say this, but I am hoping for your sake that the F-family will get noisy over the weekend."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Morning SA - not long now until you leave the office where the Wicked Witch of the North lives, it must be bad if young lad has taken time off to get away from her! Surely, HR have acknowledged that she is in desperate need of training as she is so obviously out of her depth?
The Fatties will get noisier that is a certainty because they will think you have gotten rid of the monitoring equipment (especially if you mention it around the neighbourhood that it has gone - call me sneaky), that way they will fall back into their old ways.
Don't worry about being caught talking to MrT - I was talking to web geek the other day after he had walked out of the office and was told by his apprentice that I was talking to myself (I did this not once but twice:o).
A singles holiday sounds ace - I love Italy too although I haven't been to Pompeii, I did go to London on a school trip to see the Pompeii Exhibition when it was on at the Royal Academy, the whole of my Latin class went. I know that some of our sayings come from Roman times eg. he is worth his salt, came about because the roman soldiers were paid with salt.
Hope you have a fabby evening, weekend, etc.0 -
Glad you are escaping from Wicked Witch soon! Well done Horace for the name how apt!!!
Pompeii, crumbs!!! always wanted to go after Latin lessons. I would love to know how it goes.
Fatty's will be caught out don't you fret.
I talk to myself all the time!!! Noone complains!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Guys,
No time really to post as I have got my eye appointment in 40 minutes but we had a drama last night!
MrT stood on some wasps and got stung on his little paws - we ended up in the Vets on an emergency basis.
All OK now but will tell you all later.

Poor MrT! Glad it's ended well, though. Hope he didn't howl too much so that the F-family complain about the noise."Green pastures are before me,

EEEK terrified of wasps poor Mr T. Hope he gets a treat. My doggie hated bees and wasps he didn't understand that the little things he chased were the one's that could also sting him. Memories.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Good Morning Diary,
I have been sadly neglecting my diary duties, I know, but time just seems to be flying.
Only 4 more working days in current job (thank heavens) and then on to pastures new - can't come soon enough.
Young male colleague actually wanted last Monday off but couldn't as I was taking the afternoon off. He managed four days but had seriously had enough by Thursday and asked for Friday off. If other people in the Company realise what is going on then I think it is a case of burying their heads in the sand and ignoring it.
Poor MrT - after work on Friday he was all suited and booted to go for his walk, ran down the garden and must have trodden on some dead or dying wasps. He immediately held one paw up and wouldn't move. He ended up laying down on the pavement and you could see he was in so much pain. I thought he had broken something. I bundled him in the car and drove him straight to the Vet. My lovely Vet saw him straight away and found a sting sticking out of a horribly swollen paw by now. He gave him a steroid injection and some anti-histamines and off we went. As soon as we got home he started with the other front paw and we had to go straight back - two stings this time! But at least he found them straight away and I didn't get charged twice! He is fine now but I raked the lawn straight away and mowed it short yesterday to remove any more potential hazards.
I had my eyes examined yesterday and it seems I have to change from reading glasses to varifocals....So much for thinking it was going to be £70 and a BOGOF - £160 for one pair - after discount!!!
At least they are really nice and make me look intelligent - that is half the battle won... heehee The bedroom painting plan has suddenly been put back a month.
Hi Wordsmith - The Italy holiday is instead of the "other destination"
That whole thing is done and dusted now. The ex stopped ringing by Wednesday - after many, many phone calls on Monday and a couple on Tuesday. Previous experience tells me that he wont make contact again, thinking that I will call him eventually - not this time.
I have been looking at a holiday in the Solitair brochure. It seems just what I need and I think a couple of weeks in May or June will suit me just fine. Thank you for reminding me about Simon Scarrow. I have ordered one of his books from Amazon, just to see if I like his writing.
So much done yesterday - cleaning, tidying, car washing, gardening, food shopping, optician, dog walking, tennis watching. Hardly a spare momentNice long dog walk is next on the agenda then a bit of chilling and book reading this afternoon.
Great timing - I wanted some new jeans in time for starting the new job and an email has arrived giving 25% discount in Dorothy P's this week. I shall make full use of that.
The Fatties are still so very quiet. the noise recording equipment is all rigged up and apart from the kids outside there is nothing. Why, oh why, couldn't she just have been like this during the 2 years of misery they have given me. I have completely changed - I am sleeping, I am calm, I am far more passive, I am happier. If anyone else has noisy neighbour problems I cannot encourage you more to do something about it. It has made me realise just how much it was affecting me and my health and well being. Please don't put up with it.
So, all is well. Roasted a lovely little piece of pork yesterday and for tea had a hot pork sandwich and will have some cold with mashed potatoes and veg today. Yummy. And there will still be some for tomorrow. The joint that just keeps on giving .......and a couple of scraps for MrT as well.
I can't believe it is 10 years since 9/11. I remember clearly sitting at home incredulous watching it unfold, live. So many lives lost.
I hope everyone is well.

OMG so much.
Glad Mr T is on the mend.
4days. ignore the male colleague - where was he when you needed sympathy and understanding?
Well done on plans for Italy. yay.
Glad they are being good but i am 100% certain the Fatty's will be back to normal soon and it will be recorded. Everyone is washing clothes in this weather I can't imagine they will not be!
Well done on doing house things. I got into a right blooming tiswas last night - all my fault. That's why your diary is so happy you dont dwell on here like I do and create problems you resolve your own and move on. I am going to do this. A dip in dip out place where I absorb the good stuff and dont stress about things.
Yay to good times, keeping busy and staying positive.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Hello SA and SW. Poor MrT - I am glad he's on the mend - is he milking the situation for all it's worth? It's good of your vet not to charge you for two consultations.
Specs are so expensive, aren't they? My last pair of reading glasses came from the cheapest range of frames they had - not particularly nice looking, but not hideous, but they aren't made terribly well and every time I took them off I pulled out a few hairs with them - very, very annoying and painful, so I had to wrap sellotape round them (now they are hideous). When I was teaching I had varifocals, but now find it better to have separate reading and driving glasses. The varifocals took a little bit of getting used to, but I got on with them fine - some people don't like them. The only thing I found them a bit difficult for was when reversing the car - it must be something to do with twisting my head round making me look through the wrong bit of the lens.
Italy sounds wonderful and a great idea. Well done on the ex situation. Is it painful, or liberating? Which Simon Scarrow book did you order? Under the Eagle is the first one in the series, although it is not essential to read them in order. Hope you like it - I did.
Does the F-family know about the noise monitoring? Or is it coincidence that they are suddenly quiet?
I am counting down the work days with you. Your young colleague had better have a better coping strategy than he's got - he can't take a day off every week. The next level of management can't be doing their job properly. Will you be given an exit interview, where you can tell HR just what has been going on? Or have you already told them?
Enjoy your last week under the current Miss Mismanager. Hope your chilling today is going well."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Hi SA
A mostly lurking fan here... glad you are into "4 sleeps left" time with (to quote Wordsmith) Miss Mismanager. I escaped a woman director who I'm sure was Aspergers as she couldn't empathise/spot emotion. Unfortunately my successor has just been signed off with stress, and is braver than me in being able to raise a formal grievance. I was told (by said director), "I'll tear you to bits" if I raised a grievance! I'll support my successor 100% BUT will only be in meetings with director if there's also a HR person.
Hugs, Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
