SA, I really think you should come back and check what is going on here on your diary

  • I love it........

You are so funny, you lot! And 3dogs - fancy you being here!

Guys...... I shouldn't be surprised, I know, but the transfer at work has taken a downward turn. They haven't been able to recruit anyone for my post and I was told yesterday that i can't move when I was supposed to (week after next)... not only that but "certain people" are denying that i was ever given a date in the first place and I feel that I am almost being accused of making it up and stirring things up as well. I am crestfallen, to be honest. If I didn't need the job so much and WANT the new job so much (I know I am going to be brilliant at it) I would leave. My interview was a month ago, if I had handed in notice then I would have left by now. It all seems to be unfair, but I have to lump it.
I will see if there are any developments today and post all the updates tomorrow.
Other than that, all is well.
    :(

That is awful SA. I hope HR get it sorted soon. It isnt your fault they haven't recruited anyone to your post and I don't see why you should be penalised for it. Mind you if HR were worth their salt they would have arranged some training courses for your manager as she obviously needs some people management skills.

I would be hammering on HR's door and maybe looking for something else in a firm that would appreciate your skills.

Sounds like someone in HR has been lazy and didn't advertise the position properly and you are being asked to stay till they sort the mess out. Well it's funny isn't it if you were such a 'bad' worker why do they not want to lose you????

Hold tight my friend you know you will escape soon.

    Bl**dy T**sers can i say that? :eek::eek::eek::o

Just focus on the fact you are leaving. Spend quality time Mr T. Do nice things to treat yourself everyday. It will get better.

I have a day off today and i am going to do a food shop - a few bus trips and tidy up and do work at home tomorrow. Stay happy dont let them get you down. Just think you are escaping and they have to stay there. Unfortunately we are surrounded by idiots even at the best of times. Think of it this way the company has hired them and the only good to come out of it is that their kids get fed. Feel sorry for them ok, you are escaping soon. ;)

How very frustrating, SA. Has HR given you anything in writing? If not, can you get them to? Can you get your new manager to say they want you to start on the 12th? Presumably this date was agreed with someone along the line other than your immediate manager. This really is so unfair (I'm sorry if that sounds Kevinish, but it is unfair). I thought there were thousands upon thousands of people looking for work at the moment - surely one or two of them would be interested in your job? What can I do, other than really, REALLY sympathise with you? At least you know (in a roundabout way) that they value your work, otherwise they would have had you out the door pronto. It must be very disheartening for you. Grrrrr.
    "Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.
  • Huuuh? And there isn't somebody in your new department hopping around and spitting things along the lines of "but I need someone now and why should our work suffer because some other manager was too useless to sort out a replacement?" (this is what I would be doing :o but perhaps that's why my work personality profile came out rather bossier than I expected )

I'd talk to HR since they are at least supposed to understand both sides. And why it is unfair to mess staff about. It does seem odd as I can't understand how either side is supposed to make plans until they make a decision they can stick to, and surely they understand that it's not ideal for you in the meantime.

Hope it all gets nicely unravelled and sorted asap

  • Hi Guys,

It comes to something when others are posting on my diary more than I am :o whoops!

Of course this will all change WHEN I get my new ickle computer and can log on in the evenings to post at the same time as watching the tennis.... hooked at the moment, sorry.

So..... new boss has put her foot down and I am moving to the new office on 19th Sept. Yes, I know it is another week but it is a firm date now and will be confirmed in writing tomorrow. This is regardless of whether a replacement is found for me at my current job. Hooray :j it has also put paid to wild ideas of me working 3 days in one office and 2 in another - I don't think so! Once it had been pointed out that IF the interview had been for an external job and I had handed in notice, I would have been gone by now. Common sense has finally prevailed and I have just two weeks left in current job. The countdown is on.

I have been elected as Chairman of the Tenants Federation of our HA (notified on Friday) and I am thrilled. I am going to put my all into it and try and encourage people to join us - it tends to be the same faces who volunteer for everything - Fresh blood is needed, laptop is essential and goes near to the top on "Things to Buy and Do"

MrT is in fine fettle and came blackberry picking with me yesterday afternoon. He didn't manage to pick any but was very good in a supervisory capacity. When I got home I made a lovely hot blackberry and apple sauce to go on top of a rice pudding, truly scrumptious.

I want to get in touch with the nice man who painted my flat for me when I moved in. I want my "new" bedroom redecorated pronto - hopefully before I start the new job. I thought if I got the paint this week I could take a day off in the following week and he could do it then. He works really quickly and there is no prep or glossing to do - just the walls. And... NO, I am not going to do it myself, not my forte!

Had some contact with ex - not going into detail right now. But the October holiday is DEFINITELY off as I want to concentrate on making the new job work.
I am also seriously considering cutting off all contact, forever, and walking away. I can feel myself being drawn into the daily problems without getting any of the benefits of actually being there.
I just have to get into the right place, mentally, and know that I am going to stick to it. No matter what I am feeling right now, it is useless making a vow and then breaking it as fast as the wind changes. I need distractions -the new HA development, new job and tarting the flat up should provide the necessaries.

Would you believe the Fatties have gone to ground and are being the quietest they have ever been - and this is with the noise recording equipment being installed this week.:o Now what do I do? Do I call the Council and postpone it again or let them put it in to find that there is no noise, making me look like I am making it all up. Help? She still has a load of kids outside all the time but the noise from inside the flat is all but gone. Hmmm.... not sure it will last though.

So, that is about it folks. Lazy, quiet day today - reading the paper, chilling and planning paint colours.

    Have a good day everyone....

    Hugs

Well done, it'll keep you busy and you will make new friends and increase your confidence. Check if they can offer some grants towards this as it is helping their HA too. I am sure when i did voluntary work in my old area that the local HA always some extra money that they could donate to a good cause.

Very positive, you will feel much better.

Good. He will not change. Take, take, take without any permanent benefits. He sounds like a user. You are worth ten of him.

This is the right attitude and it really will pay dividends. You are changing your destiny petal and doing it properly. It is painful as it hurts but it will be worth it in the long run.

Don't give them the benefit of the doubt. It is part of their strategy. They wont change till they have been caught. Stick with the recording as you deserve sleep.

    Have a good day everyone....

Thank you, if you can do all this. I can get off my behind and tidy up. I have been faffing all day. Time to do something now.

  • Wahey to new job sorted and to being Chair!:j Well done you :T

New bedroom sorting sounds fab. I agree with SW, get the noise monitoring put in otherwise they will just go back to noisy next week and then you will have to start all over again.
