Hmmm, bit on the expensive side (it's not taxed) but thoughts? http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/green-peugeot-405-1995/81180218
I'd normally say run a mile but 7-8 mths mot has got to be worth that alone, would of thought you could get that for 475ish.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
I might go to the auctions in Kinross tomorrow night and see what's going - are there many cars at auction with tax though?
Last time I went to Livingston (same company) I nearly bolked at the cost you had to pay TO BUY.
I'm sure under 1k was still over £100 indemnity then vat on top. Thats why I'm more Ebay these days.0 -
Urgh, not worth the hassle then?
BTW can dealers tax a car? I'd want to drive away in that 405 tomorrow if it checks out but my insurance co take a few days to get a covernote to me0 -
You need to check as from what i have been told very few of the later Rovers had Honda engines.
This was news to me aswell, but the 1.6 auto had a Honda engine and box, but the facelift model had some tiptronic gearbox and not a Honda engine.
The HG problems aren't as bad as some think but they need to be considered.
My mates other half bought an S reg 214si, £300 with a blown HG, car was 6 yrs old at the time and had less than 50k on it, previous owner hadn't checked the water level for months.
They had it repaired and it is still in use today, been troublefree, this is the small bubble shape in 3 dr form.
Does over 40mpg and is nippy and handles well.
The 400/45 was also underrated, a nice car in saloon form, bought a 420GSi at the auction for £425, low miles full history, nice alloys, comfy leather seats , only drawback was the fuel economy at low 30's at best.
Sold it a month later for a grand. Was a nice car though, that was an R plate so about 7 years old at the time.
For the money you can't beat the value, but always take care when buying a Rover with a petrol engine, bought well they are good bangernomic cars. Most garages can change theHG with their eyes closed.0 -

What about this? http://www.milnathortmotors.co.uk/used-cars/peugeot-406-1-8-l-5dr-milnathort-201121388313998
No info on MOT but it's taxed til Aug and first registered Oct which would suggest MOT is Oct too (I'd therefore want some money off, lol)0 -
Are 405s any good? Still thinking about the one I linked to earlier
If I could get it for £600 inc 6 months tax I'd be happy enough given the tax is ~£120.
Quite like a bit of retro Frenchness :rotfl:0 -

Next to none now due to the introduction of continuous insurance.
Seriously Kilty just drive your Picanto and then pay the excess mileage. You may do less miles in the last year that will reduce the cost.
Or buy your shed in 2 yrs time.
Unless of course you reckon the Picanto is a Korean dog and PCP's are an expensive and overly restrictive way into a new car...............0 -
Surely cars that are with trade aren't subject to CIE ?
I think I'll do more miles in the last year tbh :rotfl: . Not only the finance thing either, it's hardly the ideal choice for 300 mile motorway journeys of which I need to do at least 4 probably 6.
PCPs are only restrictive if you have no intentions of paying them off......0 -
The only Pug 405/406 i would recomend would be a 1.9dt, Glx model also had an intercooler, don't buy a Hdi 406 or the 2.1, stick to the 1.9
They also run on straight veg, biodiesel and obviously properly filtered Waste Veg oil.
But you really need to.consider getting rid of the Picanto, if it doesn't do what you need it to do then get rid.
Or as i suggested just use it and pay the excess mileage charge, next time avoid such a restrictive way of financing a car.
In all honesty most people just get a bloke to.come to.their house and get it clocked back once a year, kerching end of issue, obviously i would never do this or advise it.0
